What is MCAT or MDCAT test?

Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) or Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is the test which is required to pass for getting admission in any reputable medical or dental college or university.

What are the eligibility criteria for MCAT / MDCAT test?

The candidate has passed the Intermediate Science (HSSC/F.Sc.) Examination (Pre-Medical Group) securing at least 60% (660/1100) unadjusted (excluding the marks of Hifz-e-Quran, etc.) marks from a Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Pakistan.

OR

The candidate has passed any other examination (e.g., A-Level, 12th Grade, I.B., etc.) of a foreign university or examining body, with the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics, declared as compulsory by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, and which, in scope and standard, is found equivalent, upon certification by the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Pakistan, to the Intermediate Science (HSSC/F.Sc.) of Pakistan, with at least 60% or 660/1100 marks.

When the admission procedure begins?

The admission procedure for MDCAT exams begins soon after the inter exams in July 2019.

What is Application procedure for MDCAT test?

University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore proclaims the schedule of MDCAT test or MDCAT test usually in August or September annually and also invites the applicants to submit the applications. Students can apply online to appear in MDCAT test.

What are the necessary documents required to apply for the admission?

The applicants are required to submit the following documents along with their application forms:

  • Attested photocopy of Matric or SSC or equivalent examination Certificate
  • Attested photocopy of HSSC or FSc (Pre-medical) or equivalent examination Certificate
  • If candidate’s DOB is not mentioned on Matriculation certificate then the candidate can submit attested photocopy of Birth Certificate provided by the Union Council.
  • Paste two coloured photographs (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm) on the two cards
  • One A-4 size envelope with Rs 40/- postage stamps
  • Four recent coloured photographs (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) of applicant. One photograph must be attested from the front and will be attached on the application form while the other three photographs should be attested on the back and attach them
  • Attested copy of domicile certificate of the applicant
  • Hafiz-e-Quran will provide the certificate from registered Madrassa

What is the Format of MCAT / MDCAT entry test?

The applicants will have to solve the following pattern of Multiple Choice Questions from their concern key concepts of major subjects.
Physics (44 MCQs)
Chemistry (58 MCQs)
English (30 MCQs)
Biology (88 MCQs)

What is the syllabus of Entrance Test?

MDCAT test consists of English, Chemistry, and Physics and Biology parts. The Question Paper of MDCAT shall be from the syllabus and Textbooks of FSc/HSSC/equivalent examination.

Is there any negative marking in the MDCAT entry test?

Each question in MDCAT exam carries 5 marks hence the total marks are 1100. 05 marks will be given for five correct answers whereas 01 mark will be deducted from the total score on every incorrect answer.

Which are the Centers of Entrance Test?

The applicants are required to mention the center or city from which they have a desire to appear in the test on their application form. Examination centers will be selected by University of Health Sciences subject to administrative or logistic arrangements which shall not be changed afterwards.
The MDCAT is usually held in the following cities every year.

What is the validity period of Entrance Test scores?

MDCAT exams marks are just valid for the session in which the candidate has appeared. Once he has appeared in MDCAT he can apply for that particular session and admissions in universities only.
