LLB merit lists for Fall 2026 are being released university by university. Merit combines your academic record with your LAT and/or university test score, and a valid HEC LAT score of at least 50 is required. Punjab University's 1st list closed at 86.20%. A standalone 3-year LLB no longer exists in Pakistan: the Pakistan Bar Council replaced it with the 5-year LLB, so 3-year LLB merit lists aren't being issued for 2026.

Where the LLB merit lists stand in Fall 2026

Fall is when most universities publish their first lists, and closing merit is the number most applicants care about. The table shows the first-round figures currently on our tracker. Check each university's own notice before you pay any fee, because lists get amended.

University Round Highest % Lowest %
University of the Punjab 1st list, Fall 2026 92.88 86.20
Bahauddin Zakariya University 1st list, Fall 2026 102.07 96.98
University of Chakwal 1st list, Fall 2026 97.36 70.98
Fatima Jinnah Women University 1st list, Fall 2026 91.08 75.10
University of Sahiwal (Evening) 1st list, Fall 2026 89.21 75.57
University of Sahiwal (Self-Supporting) 1st list, Fall 2026 75.24 66.81

BZU's top figure passes 100% because bonus marks, such as those for a Hafiz-e-Quran, are added on top of the base score.

What a first list tells you about the second

The gap between the first and last selected candidate shows how competitive a seat was. Punjab's spread of about 6 points means the top of the range is tight. Chakwal's spread of more than 26 points means that once the first list fills, later rounds can go much lower. If you missed the first list by a small margin, keep your application active. Fee deposits and withdrawals almost always create a second round.

How LLB merit is calculated

Most public universities use a weighted formula. Our LLB eligibility criteria page describes a common pattern of 70% for academic record and 30% for the entry test, with Hafiz-e-Quran candidates receiving 20 extra marks. Others use a different split. QAU, for example, weights Part-I FA/FSc at 50% as one component. Always read the formula in your target university's prospectus.

What rarely changes is the test requirement. A valid HEC Law Admission Test result with a passing score of at least 50 is required, and Punjab University additionally counts its own admission test at 25% weightage. If you haven't sat the LAT yet, that is your first task, not the merit list.

Which LLB programme should you apply for?

The standard route is the five-year LLB, which is the programme recognised for enrolment as an advocate. Our guide to the LLB (Hons) five-year programme explains the structure. Some universities, including QAU and FUUAST this year, are also advertising a 4-year LLB with a LAT requirement. Before you apply to any programme, confirm with the Pakistan Bar Council and HEC that the degree is recognised. A merit list means little if the degree can't take you to the bar.

What to do after your name appears

  1. Save the notice. Download the official PDF and note the fee deadline. FUUAST, for instance, asked selected students to pay fees and verify documents by a fixed date.
  2. Verify your documents with the concerned department: matric, intermediate, bachelor's, LAT result, domicile, and CNIC.
  3. Check the fee. See the LLB fee structure before you commit to a self-supporting seat.
  4. Watch for the next list. Selected candidates who pay the fee don't appear on later lists, so waiting candidates can move up.
