To remove inconsistencies and complaints about exam difficulty levels across provinces, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has unveiled a centralized question bank as part of an effort to standardize the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).
Question bank of 2,000 questions under development
Talking to a local news source, PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj verified the council's creation of a question bank of 2,000 approved questions developed with subject matter experts. The program comes after several complaints regarding considerable variation in difficulty among MDCAT exams given in various provinces.
Dr. Taj underlined that the goal is to provide all medical candidates an equal footing. Provinces and testing agencies will have to choose questions from the centralized bank under the new system, therefore enhancing consistency and openness in the assessment process by avoiding sourcing or creating independent questions.
October 2025 will see MDCAT 2025 take place.
Following the release of Intermediate Part II results, Dr. Taj also verified that the MDCAT exam for this year will take place in October. This timetable aims to ensure that entrance exam fits the academic calendar and that students have enough time for preparation.
The PMDC's effort toward a single question bank is a major development in resolving perennial issues about regional variations in MDCAT administration and is projected to simplify the nationwide medical and dental colleges admission candidates evaluation.
