LLB and LLM are undergraduate and graduate academic programs offered by law faculties in universities or affiliated law schools. These legal programs are offered at schools around the world. Students holding a Law degree acquire a solid understanding and solution making capacity for legal complications. Moreover, the critical and analytical thinking skills are polished and the student can now practice as an independent law graduate.
Almost every high ranked university around the world offer LLB, LLM, and PhD in Law programs, as well as other Law courses. Students can also pursue specialization in a specific law field as Business Law, Environmental Law, Finance Law, Criminal Law, Taxation or investigation, etc.
Course Duration and Content:
Students can enter in Bachelors of Law program via two routes:
LLB program after graduation (B.A, B.Com, BSc) takes 3 years to complete
LLB Hons program after intermediate. (F.A, FSc, I.com, A-level) takes 5 years to complete
Session of LLB starts right after the announcement of graduation result and to get admission in LLB Hons you can apply after the intermediate result. The session normally begins in September-October
Various branches of law like Criminal, family, Islamic, mercantile, the law of transfer of property, equity, public international law etc. are taught in different semesters of LLB Program
General Eligibility Criteria:
For 5-years LLB
Minimum 55% passing Marks are required in FA / F.Sc / A- Level or equivalent exam
Minimum 50% passing marks in Entry Test
However, marks obtained in Matric / O Level plus are also added in the merit calculation formula
For 3-year LLB
A candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 45% marks in aggregate from a recognized institute or university to seek admission in LLB program.
Average fees in most of the public institutes are as follows however it would be different and high for private institutions.
Morning Program Per semester including admission fee Rs.35,500/=
Evening Program Per semester including admission fee Rs.45,000/=
As the program is conducted in different categories, therefore, the fee structure for every program is different. Some students also opt for private study. They just get registered before exams. A foreign level course taught in private institution charge a bit high that can be checked at its website page.
As there are some set rules and regulations in every type of organization, therefore, a law graduate can work anywhere but the key categories employing Law graduates include Judicial Magistrate, Legal Adviser, Court Reporter, District & Sessions Judge, Public Prosecutor, Advocate General. Moreover, law graduates have good opportunities in Investigative agencies, Teaching, Research and Armed Forces.
