In the course study of BS Food Science and Nutrition, the students will learn about food chemistry, its quality and various food preservation methods .It also teaches about nutrients, sources of nutrients and food business etc. The study of food sciences and technology is very vast and includes subcategories like food processing, food safety, nutrition and many more to list.

It is a 4-year (08 Semesters) program with 133 credit hours.
A simple food and nutrition BS degree program is a 4- year course where subjects like food chemistry, biology, and engineering principles are taught. Development of food safety and food quality systems are also introduced to students who want to work as nutritionist in their career.
Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Quality, Analysis, Biochemistry and Post-Harvest of food are the main contents of the course .Moreover analytical and Computer/I.T courses are also taught to make the syllabus up to date.
The institutions also home equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art instruments to facilitate contemporary learning.
Doctor of Nutrition and Disease (DND)
Besides these graduate degrees, Doctor of nutrition and disease (DND) degree is also offered in many public and private institutes which is a 5-year program. These professional nutritionists and dietitians complete their bachelor degree program and pursue dietetics practices. The course integrates academic curriculum about food, nutrition and associated diseases .Some clinical practice along with research and management work are also included
In public universities the admissions are announced once a year however in private institutions: The program is offered two times a year as Fall and Spring semesters. Admissions are announced in leading newspapers and on websites

For master’s and other post graduate program the eligibility criteria is
The candidates seeking admission should have B.S. (4-year) /M .Sc. or higher degree (equivalent to at least 16years of education or higher) in pure and applied sciences.
The candidates will be required to pass entry test, consisting of two major portions; 50% general (English &General Knowledge) and 50% subject(Food Science & General Science).
The fee structure for an undergraduate Food science and Nutrition degree is same as for other BS. Program which could be around 10 thousand per year in a public university .However for a private university it all depends upon the duration and course content which the institute is rendering as different courses have different credit hours, thus charges are different for each course.
Food and nutrition offers varied opportunities for its pass-outs they can work as Food Technologist
Food Chemist, Food Analyst, Food Engineer, Production Manager, Product Application Officer, Quality Control Manager, Quality Assurance Officer etc. Moreover these graduates have open fields to pursue their studies in postgraduate programs and are then hired on higher designation as professors and Researchers in various academic and research organizations. They could be hired as Food Inspector. Some Pharmaceutical industries also requires and nutrition experts in their manufacturing and quality control areas.
