BDS Colleges in Pakistan 2026: Government & Private List

List of BDS colleges in Pakistan 2026: government and private dental colleges and universities by city, PMDC recognition check, seats and fee ranges.

BDS Colleges in Pakistan 2026: Government and Private Dental Colleges List

Pakistan has roughly 48 to 60 dental colleges, depending on how recently the count was taken. About 17 are public and the rest private. Government options include de'Montmorency College of Dentistry (Lahore), Khyber College of Dentistry (Peshawar), Nishtar Institute of Dentistry (Multan) and the Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences (Karachi). Before you apply anywhere, check the college on PMDC's official list, because only PMDC-recognised colleges lead to a registrable degree. Public colleges cost roughly PKR 20,000–80,000 a year and private ones roughly PKR 0.6–2.5 million, depending on the source.

How to check that a dental college is recognised

  1. Open PMDC's official public dental colleges or private dental colleges page (there is also a private dental colleges PDF).

  2. Find the college by its exact name and city. A "dental section" inside a medical college counts, as long as it is listed.

  3. Confirm the affiliating university (UHS, KMU, DUHS and so on) on the college's site.

  4. For private colleges, check that it appears in your province's central admission list for the current session.

If a college's own website is the only place it claims recognition, treat that as unverified.

The colleges you searched for

Azra Naheed Dental College (Lahore). A constituent college of Superior University, Lahore, which states on its website that it is PMDC-recognised. In early 2024, Dawn reported a dispute between UHS and the Azra Naheed colleges over centrally placed candidates, so confirm the college is in the current UHS central admission list.

RCD. Most often this means Rehman College of Dentistry, a private college inside Rehman Medical Institute, Hayatabad, Peshawar. Rawal College of Dentistry, Islamabad, is abbreviated RCoD. Rawal offers a four-year BDS affiliated with SZABMU.

Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences (Karachi). A public institute affiliated with Jinnah Sindh Medical University, listed with 100 seats in the older list.

HBS Dental College (Islamabad). Private, listed as established in 2018, affiliated with SZABMU.

Bahria University (Karachi). The regulator-based list shows a dental section of Bahria University Medical and Dental College, established in 2008. Bahria's published criteria for its medical colleges refer to the NUMS entry test, so confirm the current admission route for BDS.

Margalla Institute of Health Sciences (Rawalpindi). Its dental arm is Margalla College of Dentistry, established 1997 and affiliated with UHS.

Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (Karachi). Private, established 2001, listed with 80 seats, among the larger private intakes.

Islam Medical College, Sialkot. The dental college is listed as Islam Dental College, affiliated with UHS.

Verify before you apply: Shahida Islam Medical and Dental College (Lodhran) and Muhammad Medical College (Mirpurkhas). Both advertise dental programmes, but neither appears in the regulator-based list, and I could not confirm PMDC recognition of their BDS from an official source. Check PMDC's live list before paying any fee.

Fees and seats

Public colleges typically charge tens of thousands of rupees a year, and sources give ranges from about PKR 20,000 to 80,000. Private colleges range from roughly PKR 600,000 to 2.5 million a year. Seat totals differ between sources, so ask your admitting authority for this year's seat matrix. See BDS fee structure and duration.

How to choose a dental college

  1. Recognition first. Not on PMDC's list means not an option.

  2. Merit reality. Public colleges close at high aggregates. Use last year's closing merit for your province.

  3. Affiliation and your route. Punjab colleges run through UHS's central admission, KP through KMU, and NUMS-linked colleges use the NUMS test.

  4. Clinical exposure. Ask about the attached dental hospital and patient load.

  5. Total cost. Ask for the full fee schedule, including registration and hostel, in writing.
