MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2026 in Pakistan: Marks, Age and Requirements

Sites disagree on the minimum marks, so this page follows the official admission notices and policy documents, and tells you where a rule changes by province or college. Rules are set by PMDC and applied through each province's policy, so read your province's notice too.

The requirements at a glance

Where the higher numbers come from. Some sites claim you need 65% or 70% in FSc, or 60% in MDCAT. The official UHS and KMU documents say 60% and 55%. Merit cut-offs at public colleges are far higher than the eligibility minimum, though, so being eligible does not mean being selected.

Educational qualification

FSc Pre-Medical

You need HSSC (Pre-Medical) or an equivalent 12th-grade qualification with at least 60%. Biology and Chemistry are mandatory, and you can offer either Physics or Mathematics.

A-Levels and foreign qualifications

Foreign qualifications must be certified as equivalent to HSSC by IBCC (Inter Board Committee of Chairmen). UHS's notice accepts A-Level candidates with the mandatory subjects, and expatriate candidates with Chemistry and Biology are eligible under the notice's rules. Get your equivalence certificate early, since IBCC processing can take time.

MDCAT requirement

You need a passing MDCAT result: 55% for MBBS (99 of 180). UHS's 2025-26 notice accepted MDCAT results from 2023, 2024 or 2025, so results stay valid for more than one session. Whether an older result works for 2026-27 depends on the coming notice, and this year's MDCAT (held 20 September 2026, with UHS's result out on 24 September) is the safe route. Overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals may use other tests such as SAT-II, per the notice.

Age limit for MBBS admission

KMU's 2025-26 public policy states that there is no lower or upper age limit for public-sector medical and dental admission. Some websites claim you must be 17 by a fixed date. I couldn't find that in an official policy. If age matters in your case, check your province's admission policy before applying.

Eligibility for admission in MBBS in Punjab

For UHS public-sector colleges:

• HSSC Pre-Medical (or IBCC-equivalent) with at least 60%, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics.

• A valid MDCAT pass.

• Punjab domicile, from any district of Punjab, for local seats.

• Quota seats (such as overseas or special categories) carry extra conditions in the notice.

Islamabad domicile holders and other categories may have specific seats, so read the current UHS notice.

Other provinces and private colleges

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: KMU's policy uses the same core criteria: 60% in HSSC and MDCAT 55%.

• Sindh: DUHS handles public colleges. Dow Medical College lists domicile conditions for local seats alongside the MDCAT pass.

• Private colleges follow PMDC/UHS rules and may add their own conditions. Liaquat National, for instance, requires an interview and English proficiency.
