What is Law Admission Test?

 
Higher Education Commission of Pakistan conducts the law admission test for the candidates that wanted to get admission in the undergraduate 5 year LLB Program. It is essential to appear and score passing marks in the HEC LAT Test to secure admission in the law college/university. The entrance test provides the opportunity for the applicants to pursue their career as a lawyer, attorney, consultant, and judge. HEC arranged this test for the students in the Direction of the Honorable Supreme Court
 

Courses and Institution:  

In Pakistan, there are several colleges and universities that offer the LLB program and students need to give HEC law test before admission process to determine their eligibility for this domain. All HEC/PBC recognized public and private sector universities and their affiliated colleges require LAT Test for the undergraduate LLB 5-year program.
 
With the rapid advancement in the educational fields now several admission tests have been introduced for various specialized fields to test the abilities of the candidates. The law aptitude test is designed in such a way to assess the propensity of the students toward the profession of law
 

LAT Eligibility Criteria:

 
HEC has defined the LAT Eligibility Criteria and it is mandatory to fall into it to give the admission test. 
  • The students who have passed the intermediate or the equivalent study program are eligible to apply in the test.
  • The result awaited students of the higher secondary school certificate or equivalent /Grade 12 education can appear in the admission test.
  • The students passed in the first year exam held in 2019 and waiting for the result of 2nd year annual examination not conducted in 2020 are also considered to be eligible.
 

LAT Test Validity

The Law Admission Test is conducted by the HEC three times a year and students can take any chance of available attempts. Moreover, the test remains valid for two years only, and afterward, the students have to again take the attempt. 
 

LAT Registration:

For the LAT Registration follow the below-mentioned steps 
  • Registration is needed for the LAT online admissions. Register yourself on the HEC official website.
  • HEC Law Test application mainly consists of two steps that include the profile completion using the “My Profile” section and application submission using the “law admission test” link on the menu panel.
  • It is advised to the students to properly fill all the requirements of the application form. The in save and the incomplete applications will not be accepted by the authorities. 
 

Fee for LAT Test:

  • For the LAT test a fee of Rs 500/- is to be deposited online/ATM in the 
  • Bank Account No. 1742 7900 133401
  • Account Title: Higher Education Commission
  • Bank: Habib Bank Limited, Branch Code: 1742. 
  • Applicants are required to submit a copy of the fee deposit slip/bank draft through courier at the address Room No 13-209, 2nd Floor, HRD Building HEC, H-8, Islamabad 
  • While submitting the form the applicants must mention the CNIC number at the back of the deposit slip.
  • The fee of the law admission test is and non-transferable and non-refundable
 

Test Pattern and Syllabus: 

 
The Test Pattern and the Syllabus holds great significance during the preparation of the test. The students that are preparing for the LAT Test are advised to check the syllabus and prepare accordingly. The details of the questions and marks are stated as follows.

Test Date:

 
LAT Test Date will be announced by HEC and the students can download their roll number slip at least one week ahead of the test. The details of the test time, venue, and date will be provided to the students through SMS/Email. Therefore it is informed to the students that at the time of the registration make sure to mention valid email and phone number to avoid any convenience. The test will be held in all the major cities of Pakistan. After the commencement of the test, the LAT Result will be announced through which the students can analyze their performance in the test.
