DVM Universities in Lahore and Across Pakistan: City-Wise List (PVMC-Checked)

Lahore has two PVMC-recognized DVM universities in the city: UVAS (City Campus) and Riphah College of Veterinary Sciences (Raiwind Campus). Karachi has Ziauddin University. Multan has BZU and MUST. Peshawar has University of Agriculture Peshawar. Faisalabad has UAF. Islamabad and Quetta have none inside the city. Only enroll in a program on PVMC's recognized list.

DVM Universities in Lahore

Lahore is the country's veterinary education hub, and it's where the oldest program lives.

University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), City Campus. The institution traces back to a veterinary school founded in 1882 and is PVMC-accredited for DVM since 1996. Admission is merit-based (Matric 30% + Intermediate 70% per the 2026 notice). 

Riphah College of Veterinary Sciences, Raiwind Campus. Recognized since 2012. The DVM here is a 10-semester program with 167 credit hours, a Fall intake and 50 seats, and eligibility of 60% in both SSC and HSSC. The listed first-semester cost is PKR 175,000, with tuition and other charges billed each semester. Verify current fees, since that page is more than a year old.

Nearby, but outside Lahore city: UVAS runs recognized campuses at Jhang (since 2012) and Narowal (since 2019).

DVM Universities in Karachi

Karachi's recognized option is Ziauddin University's Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (accredited 2022; five-year semester program at Education City). Other Sindh options sit outside Karachi: Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam and SBBUVAS, Sakrand.

DVM Universities in Multan

Two recognized options: Bahauddin Zakariya University (Faculty of Veterinary Sciences) and the Multan College of Veterinary Sciences at Multan University of Science & Technology. Bahawalpur's Islamia University is another Southern Punjab option.

DVM Universities in Peshawar

University of Agriculture, Peshawar (College of Veterinary Sciences) is the recognized program in the city. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and the newer UVAS Swat campus are also on PVMC's list.

DVM Universities in Islamabad

We could not find a PVMC-recognized DVM program located in Islamabad. The nearest is PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, recognized since 2012. Don't be misled by "Islamabad" campuses that market a DVM without appearing on PVMC's list.

DVM Universities in Quetta

No recognized DVM university is listed in Quetta. In Balochistan, PVMC recognizes the Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences at Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water & Marine Sciences, Uthal (2012).

DVM Universities in Faisalabad

University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) runs the recognized DVM (since 1996). Its 2025-26 notification put the minimum at 60% (excluding Hafiz-e-Quran marks), with merit from Matric, first-year marks and an entry test.

Why PVMC Recognition Matters

PVMC has warned that graduates of non-recognized programs can't register with the council and can't work as veterinary doctors in public or private organizations. Recognition also changes. In July 2025, PVMC directed the University of Poonch (Rawalakot), Cholistan University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (Bahawalpur) and MUST Mirpur (Bhimber campus) to stop DVM admissions from Fall 2025 until a formal visit and approval.
