A five-year degree program in veterinary medicine, or DVM, is offered by a variety of colleges in Pakistan. Students in this program learn how to treat and cure animals. It also includes the examination, observation, and treatment of many animals.

DVM Eligibility Criteria

As students' knowledge and interest in this field have grown, several colleges have begun to offer degrees in this discipline. Although the merit for DVM is lower as compared to MBBS it is still considerably higher than many other medical fields and closes around 80% on average.  

Following is some detailed information on DVM eligibility criteria in different universities.

DVM Eligibility Criteria At The University Of Veterinary And Animal Sciences (UVAS)

UVAS is a renowned DVM school in Pakistan, with many of its graduates working as veterinarians in the country and abroad. Every year, at the end of August, admissions for the DVM program open.

Following is the eligibility criteria for DVM at UVAS:

  • The candidate must score at least 60% marks in F.Sc (Pre-Medical) or any other equivalent examination.
  • The calculation of the final merit will be based on the marks obtained in matriculation, FSc. Or equivalent examinations.
  • The candidate must be under the age of 23 at the time of application submission.

DVM Eligibility Criteria At University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF)

University of Agriculture, Faisalabad is among the famous universities in Pakistan offering DVM degrees.

Following is the eligibility criteria for DVM at UAF:

  • The candidate must score at least 50% marks in F.Sc (Pre-Medical) or any other equivalent examination.
  • The candidate must score at least 50% marks in matriculation or any other equivalent examination.
  • The candidate must appear in the entry test(s) exam held by the university
  • The calculation of the final merit will be based on the marks obtained in matriculation, FSc. Or equivalent examinations, and entry test exams with the ratio of 30:30:40 respectively.
  • The candidate must be under the age of 23 at the time of application submission.

 

DVM Eligibility Criteria At Bahauddin Zakariya University BZU

Bahauddin Zakariya University's Faculty of Veterinary Sciences is committed to animal care. For undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, all departments have ample facilities and well-equipped laboratories.

Following is the eligibility criteria for DVM at BZU:

  • The candidate must get a minimum of 50% on the F.Sc (Pre-Medical) or another similar examination to process the application.
  • The candidate must have received at least 50% in matriculation or an equivalent exam.
  • The candidate must appear in the university's admission test(s) exam.
  • The merit is calculated on the basis of Matriculation (70%) university’s entrance test marks (30%).

DVM Eligibility Criteria At Riphah College Of Veterinary Sciences

Riphah College of Veterinary Sciences offers a five-year degree program that prepares graduates to work in the veterinary field in Pakistan and internationally. The eligibility criteria for DVM at Riphah university is as follows:

  • The candidate must have passed an intermediate, F.Sc (Pre-Medical), or another similar examination to process the application.
  • The candidate must have received at least 50% in matriculation or an equivalent exam.
  • The candidate must appear in the university's admission test(s) exam.
  • The merit is calculated based on intermediate (pre-medical) (70%) university’s entrance test marks (30%).

DVM Eligibility Criteria At  FV&AS, PMAS, Rawalpindi

The Department of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences, Department of Pathobiology, Department of Clinical Studies, Department of Poultry, and Department of Livestock Production and Management make up the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (FV&AS) at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University in Rawalpindi.

DVM eligibility criteria at PMAS, Rawalpindi is as follows:

  • The candidate must have passed an intermediate, F.Sc (Pre-Medical), or another similar examination with at least 60% marks.
  • The candidate must have received at least 50% in matriculation or an equivalent exam.
  • The candidate must appear in the university's admission test(s) exam.
  • The merit is calculated based on intermediate (pre-medical) (70%) university’s entrance test marks (30%).

DVM Eligibility Criteria At The University Of Poonch, Rawalkot

The University of Poonch is the sole university in Azad Kashmir dedicated to the spread of knowledge in veterinary sciences.

The eligibility criteria for DVM at the University of Poonch is as follows:

  • The candidate must possess an intermediate, F.Sc (Pre-Medical), or another similar examination certificate with at least 60% marks.
  • The candidate must have received at least 45% in matriculation or an equivalent exam.
  • The candidate must appear in the university's admission test(s) exam.
  • The merit is calculated based on intermediate (pre-medical) and university entrance test marks.

DVM Eligibility Criteria At Sindh Agriculture University

Sindh Agriculture University's Department of Veterinary Medicine is one of the top-ranked Faculties of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences.

The eligibility criteria for DVM at the Sindh Agriculture University is as follows:

  • The candidate must have scored at least 50% marks in intermediate or equivalent examination with pre-medical subjects
  • The candidate must appear in the entrance test exam held by the university
  • The merit for admission will be calculated on the basis of matriculation, intermediate, and entrance test marks with the following ratio:
  • Matriculation:10%
  • FSc.: 60%
  • Entrance Test: 30%

DVM Eligibility Criteria At The Islamia University, Bahawalpur

Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at the Islamia University Bahawalpur aims at promoting affordable yet top-class education among aspiring future vets in Pakistan.

DVM eligibility criteria at the Islamia University, Bahawalpur is as follows:

  • The candidate must have scored at least 60% marks in intermediate or equivalent examination with pre-medical subjects
  • The candidate must appear in the entrance test exam held by the university (MCAT or NAT or Departmental test)
  • The merit for admission will be calculated on the basis of matriculation, intermediate, and entrance test marks with the following ratio:
  • Entrance test:20%
