Information Technology has a vast connotation. It is not a single discipline that is taught as one particular subject rather it is a combination of all digitally related disciplines which helps in information processing, analysis and management. The degree offers courses that encompass all gamut of IT, like hardware, software, communication network and multimedia technologies their development and monitoring and future prospects of progression.

Course Duration:

BS in information technology is a 4– year (8 semesters) program while some institutes also offer master degree courses MIT which is generally 2-year (4 semesters) program leading to MPhil and PhD.

Course Content:

The course contains some basic principles of applied sciences like physics, maths and stats plus the whole program covers subjects of information technology like web development, multimedia and database systems, networking, software design, data communication and digital business solutions. The internships and online work prepare students to handle issues in IT departments of corporate and other sectors.

Eligibility Criteria:

Undergraduate Program:

  1. Intermediate with mathematics securing minimum 50% marks and for A Level, American High School Diploma or any other equivalent foreign qualification, an equivalence certificate from IBCC is mandatory.
  2. 50% passing marks in Admission Test are required for admission.

Graduate or Master’s Program:

  1. 4 years Bachelor degree in IS/CS/ IT/Electronics or equivalent, with CGPA 2.5/4.0 (Semester System) or 50% marks (Annual System).
  2. Students who have passed NTS-GAT (General) or GRE with 50% marks are also eligible in many institutes

Fee structure:

This is a bit expensive program as public universities or institutes are charging 1-2 million for the complete undergraduate program while the tuition fee in expensive private universities can be 10 million for the whole program. The total cost is distributed yearly or in semesters. Master’s program also cost around 1-2 million in an average university. The figures are much lower in low-cost public universities.
