How to apply for BSIT, step by step

  1. Open the notice. Click the notice in the table and read it fully. Note the closing date, the test it requires and the application method.

  2. Check eligibility. Most universities ask for an Intermediate result of at least 50%, but streams and mathematics rules differ. Compare your result with the BSIT eligibility criteria before you apply.

  3. Register for the required test. Depending on the university, this is its own entry test, the NAT or the HEC USAT. Test registration often closes before the university's own deadline.

  4. Collect your documents. Universities commonly ask for your CNIC or B-form, Matric and Intermediate certificates or result cards, photographs and, if you studied A-Levels or abroad, an IBCC equivalence certificate. If you took USAT, bring the score card if the university accepts it.

  5. Apply. Most universities take applications through an online portal; some accept applications at the admission office. Incomplete applications can be rejected.

  6. Watch the merit lists. Follow results on the BSIT merit lists page and the university's own site.

  7. Pay the first fee on time. Provisional offers lapse if the fee is not submitted by the deadline. In MNS University of Agriculture Multan's merit-list notices, selected candidates had two to three days to pay.

Some universities issue provisional admission while your Intermediate result is awaited and cancel it if you do not meet the criteria after the result. Read the offer letter for the exact condition.

Entry tests: USAT, NAT and university tests

Universities choose their own selection method. Three are common.

  • University entry test. Set and marked by the university.

  • NAT. A National Aptitude Test. Some universities set a minimum score; for example, our eligibility page lists UMT as requiring 50% in the NAT or admission test.

  • HEC USAT. The Undergraduate Studies Admission Test, run by HEC through its Education Testing Council (ETC).

As an example of a university adopting it, Quaid-i-Azam University signed an agreement with ETC-HEC to use USAT as the admission test for its undergraduate programmes for Fall 2026. Whether your BSIT university does the same is stated in its notice. Which USAT category it expects for a BSIT applicant also depends on the university, so check before you register. 

Admission requirements and merit

The common baseline is an Intermediate (HSSC) or equivalent result of at least 50%, often with mathematics. Some universities accept pre-medical students who complete a mathematics deficiency course, and some accept students with FA or I.Com. Merit formulas differ. MNS University of Agriculture, Multan, has used Matric (30%) plus Intermediate Part-I (70%). The Punjab University Gujranwala Campus lists academic record as 100% of merit, with 20 extra marks for Hafiz-e-Quran. Test scores add another variable where universities use them. Always read the formula in the prospectus or notice.

Costs to plan for when you apply

Budget for the application fee, any test fee, and the first-semester fee due soon after your name appears on a merit list. Common mistakes

  • Applying after the closing date because the notice was posted weeks earlier. Check the Last Date column.
  • Registering for the wrong USAT category, which cannot be changed later.
  • Waiting to request IBCC equivalence until after the deadline.
  • Missing the first-fee deadline after a provisional offer.
  • Relying on a third-party summary instead of the university's own notice.
