Graduates in information technology are able to perform technology-oriented tasks like developing, processing, storing, and communication of information between digital devices such as computers, mobile phones, and tablets. Pakistani institutions offer international standard courses in information technology but the title for the course sometimes differ in different institutes like most institutes are offering these courses under the title of BS in computer science program while others are conducting Bachelors in Information Technology as a comprehensive study program covering almost all categories of information and technology.
BS in information technology is a 4-year (8 semesters) program. The semesters generally took 6 months to complete and specific course plan with estimated credit hours are designated to each semester to give the student a comprehensive learning facility. Practical projects in computer lab is the mandatory fragment of the course content
The course contain some basic principles of applied sciences like physics, maths and stats plus the whole program covers subjects of information technology like: web developments, multimedia and database systems, networking, software design, data communication Data Structure and Algorithms, and digital business solutions. The internships and online work prepares students to handle issues in IT departments of corporate and other sectors.
Intermediate with mathematics minimum 50% marks.
For A Level, American High School Diploma or any other equivalent foreign qualification, an equivalence certificate from IBCC is mandatory.
50% passing marks in Admission Test are mandatory for admission.
Generally private universities or institutes are charging around 1-2 lacs for undergraduate program. However there are some exceptional institutes that charge more than this like IBA, LUMS.
Master’s program also cost around 1-2 lacs in private universities.
The fee is quite low in public universities. It ranges around 17 thousand per year
Self-finance scheme in public universities charges a bit high.
