Undergraduate Admissions 2026 in Pakistan: What Is Open, What Has Closed and What Comes Next

HEC's USAT registration ran from 6 September to 2 October 2026, with the test on 25 October. Punjab University's second phase for vacant seats ended on 28 September. The main Fall 2026 windows at UAF, GCUF, FAST, BZU and MUET closed between May and July. FC College is still posting bachelor-level notices with no last date stated. LUMS takes freshmen only in Fall. Last year, BZU's Spring cycle closed on 2 January and GCUF's on 12 January, so that is when to be ready.

What Undergraduate Admission Means in Pakistan

Undergraduate admission is how you enter a bachelor-level degree after intermediate (HSSC), A-Level or an equivalent qualification. In Pakistan that usually means a four-year BS, a five-year degree such as LLB or Pharm-D, a BE in engineering, or a two-year associate degree (ADP). Selection runs on merit: your SSC and HSSC marks, plus an entry test set either by the university or by a national body such as HEC.

HEC Undergraduate Studies Admission Test (USAT)

The USAT is HEC's standardised test for undergraduate admission, run through its Education Testing Council. Some universities accept the score in place of their own test, so check the prospectus of the university you want before you register. A USAT score also stays valid for one year for HEC undergraduate scholarship applications.

USAT 2026 Dates

HEC has run several sittings this year. The April sitting was on 19 April. A July sitting was held on 5 July. The current round is the one that matters now: registration closed on 2 October 2026 at 11:59 PM and the test is on Sunday, 25 October 2026. If you missed it, the next sitting will be announced on the ETC portal at etc.hec.gov.pk, and any date change is notified at hec.gov.pk.

University-by-University Guide

Punjab University (PU)

PU's main online window ran from 2 July to 4 August 2026, online applications only, through admissions.pu.edu.pk. A second phase for vacant seats opened on 8 September and closed on 28 September, offered strictly first come, first served. In that phase, the time your fee challan was generated decided priority when seats were limited. Both phases are closed, and new notices will appear on pu.edu.pk

University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF)

UAF listed 22 June 2026 as the last date for its BS programmes, including B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture, Animal Sciences, and Food Science and Technology. The cycle has moved on to merit lists: a notification dated 25 September 2026 granted provisional admission to B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture for the 2026–27 winter semester. GC University Faisalabad (GCUF)

GCUF's Fall 2026–27 BS forms closed on 7 July 2026. BS Bridging, B.Ed (1.5 year), MBA and MS/MPhil closed on 14 July. Admission tests for BS Fine Arts, BSc Electrical Engineering and engineering technology programmes were set for 9 July. The Sahiwal sub-campus ran a separate notice with a 25 September 2026 deadline. FC College (FCCU)

FCCU posts notices on a rolling basis. The latest bachelor-level notice, on 24 September 2026, covers psychology, sociology, physics, mathematics and history, with no last date stated. Undergraduate entry needs at least 50% in HSSC certified by IBCC, and merit blends your HSSC marks with an FCCU test of multiple-choice questions lasting 60 minutes. FAST-NUCES

FAST accepted online profiles from 20 May to 26 June 2026. Undergraduate tests ran from 29 June to 10 July, and the admission formalities window was 27 July to 13 August. The FAST admission test and the NTS NAT were both accepted for undergraduate entry. The campuses are Chiniot-Faisalabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Peshawar, and applications go through admissions.nu.edu.pk. LUMS

LUMS admits freshmen once a year, in the Fall semester only. The Fall 2026 application deadline was 27 January 2026 at 5:00 pm Pakistan time, with a processing fee of PKR 11,500. Transfer applicants have their own calendar. The transfer page lists 4 November 2026 for supporting documents and decisions between 31 December 2026 and 5 January 2027. Fall 2027 dates will be posted at admission.lums.edu.pk, and last cycle closed in late January, so start preparing for the test early.

BZU Multan

BZU's Fall 2026 window covered the Multan, Lodhran and Vehari campuses and closed on 10 July 2026. The test for BS Fine Arts, Graphic Design and Craft Design was on 13 July, and for Engineering and Textile Design on 14 July. LLB applicants must submit a valid LAT result. BZU also runs a Spring cycle: last year's closed on 2 January 2026 with a subject-based test on 5 January, and admissions were made on Intermediate Part-I results. Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET)

MUET's 2026–27 undergraduate notice was posted on 19 April 2026 with 5 May as the last date. The computer-based pre-admission test started on 22 May 2026, with interviews held the day after the test in each district. The final decision rests on your combined performance in the pre-admission test and the interview. How Merit and Provisional Admission Work

Most public universities rank applicants by SSC and HSSC marks, then add an entry test where the programme requires one. Admission on first-year marks is provisional. BZU, for example, requires successful candidates to submit their complete Intermediate Annual 2026 results as soon as the board declares them. GCUF requires SSC and HSSC certificates to be verified by IBCC within the first semester, and it can cancel admission if you fail to meet the programme's eligibility criteria.

How to Apply for Undergraduate Admission

The steps are similar across universities, though each portal has its own quirks.

1. Create an account on the university's admission portal and choose your category, such as national or international student.
2. Fill in the form, select your programme and shift (morning or evening), and enter your SSC and HSSC details.
3. Generate the fee challan and pay it at the bank the university names.
4. Upload the paid receipt to your portal account.
5. Download your roll number slip and sit the entry test, then upload documents if you are shortlisted.

Applications missing any required document are not entertained, and a separate fee applies if you apply to more than one faculty.

When Do the Next Undergraduate Admissions Open?

Spring 2027 is the next realistic window. If last year's pattern holds, expect Spring notices from universities such as BZU and GCUF between late December and mid-January, and the Fall 2027 cycle (including LUMS and FAST) to start in the first half of 2027. Keep your SSC and HSSC documents attested and your IBCC equivalence papers ready, since a missing document is the most common reason forms get rejected.
