Shariah Advisor

State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan is seeking to hire a Shariah Advisor for its Window Takaful Operations namely "Tayyab Takaful", in accordance with SECP's Shariah Advisors Regulations, 2017, issued vide Notification No. S.R.O. 1190(I)/2017 dated 15.11.2017, and to fulfill the requirement of Rule 9(b) of Takaful Rules, 2012.

Hiring will be made on a contract basis initially for a period of three (03) years, extendable for a further period upon mutual consent, if deemed fit.

Aspiring candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience:

i) Qualification

Option A:

  • Shahadat-ul-Aalamiyyah Degree (Dars-e-Nizami) from any recognized Board of Madaris with minimum seventy percent (70%) marks; AND

  • Bachelor's degree recognized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan with minimum 2nd Class

OR

Option B:

  • Post-Graduate Degree in Kuliyyatush Shariah or Kuliyyah Usooluddin, L.L.M (Shariah), MS Shariah or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or equivalent, from an institution recognized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan

ii) Work Experience

Option A:

  • At least four (4) years' experience of giving Shariah rulings in fiqh, preferably fiqh-ul-muamulat (Islamic commercial jurisprudence), including the period of Takhasus-fil-Ifta

OR

Option B:

  • At least five (5) years' experience in teaching or research or training in Islamic financial services

OR

Option C:

  • At least five (5) years' experience in working in relevant departments of an institution offering Islamic financial services

OR

Option D:

  • At least five (5) years' experience in working in the relevant department of banking or securities or insurance/Takaful regulator

Explanation:

A combination of eligible work experience shall be acceptable. For example, two years of experience in teaching, research, or training in Islamic financial services combined with three years of experience working in relevant departments of an institution offering Islamic financial services will meet the five (5) year experience requirement.

Preference: Candidates with direct experience as a Shariah Advisor for a Pension Fund Manager, Dedicated Family Takaful, or Window Takaful Operations will be given preference.

iii) Integrity and Soundness

Candidate has not been:

  • Associated with any illegal activity especially relating to Insurance/Takaful/Fund Management or banking business

  • In default of payment of dues owed to any financial institution and/or default in payment of any taxes

iv) Compensation

An Attractive Compensation Package will be offered.

Note: Appointment is subject to clearance from SECP.
