Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC)
Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC) was established in 1998. It was established to meet the needs of municipal developments required in the province of Punjab. It is an autonomous body, its rules and regulations are set under Companies Ordinance 1984. PMDFC is responsible for technical assistance to Local Government and Community Development (LG & CD) Department. The PMDFC has functions such as: To assist local government in building the capacities for better fiscal and service delivery management, to provide matching grants to local government for the construction, rehabilitation and expansion of infrastructure and to act or provide consultants for evaluation, monitoring and advising for their institutional reforms, To monitor, evaluate and ensure that funds are used properly, efficiently and transparently, To provide an effective management and information system for regular and proper monitoring and evaluation over financial and technical assistance to local governments from the fund and To support, initiate, undertake and promote research activities. Currently, PMDFC is involved in completion of mega projects such as: Capacity Building for Sustainability of Municipal Infrastructure Services, Up-gradation of Municipal Asset Management Information System, Program Management Unit (PMU) and LG Automated Financial Management and Monitoring System.
