No single university is best for BS Economics in Pakistan. The right choice depends on your marks, budget, city and how much mathematics you want. If a ranking is your guide, LUMS in Lahore and COMSATS University Islamabad share the 201–250 band, which is the top Pakistani placement for Economics in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. If you want a selective, test-based route, look at IBA Karachi, NUST, the Lahore School of Economics and Beaconhouse National University (BNU). If cost or location matters more, public universities and government colleges in your own city may suit you better.
This page lists universities and colleges offering BS Economics, with quick picks, city shortlists and a checklist for comparing them. Requirements and deadlines change each session, so confirm them on the latest notice. You can see open notices on our BS Economics admissions page.

Rankings measure specific things. The QS subject rankings weigh academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations and international research networks. They don’t measure teaching quality at undergraduate level, fees, test difficulty or how well a programme fits you.
Also keep the numbers in perspective. About 35 Pakistani universities appear in QS’s 2026 subject rankings, and most placements fall in the 201–400 bands. Many good BS Economics programmes aren’t ranked at all. A university missing from a ranking isn’t a weak option. Use rankings as one input, then compare fees, admission route and the scheme of studies.
The directory below updates automatically from admission and programme data. A university can appear under more than one name or campus, so open the profile for the campus you want. Some older notices stay listed, so confirm the programme is still running.

Public universities generally cost far less than private ones, but they may have tougher merit competition. In QS’s 2026 subject rankings, 31 of the 35 Pakistani universities are public. Fees are published in different formats (per semester, per credit hour, whole programme), so compare total cost, not just the first instalment. Our BS Economics fee structure page lists amounts submitted by universities. Closing merit also varies, as the BS Economics merit lists page shows.
Check the admission route. A test-and-interview route needs more preparation time than merit-only admission.
Check HEC recognition on the HEC website before you pay any fee.
Read the scheme of studies. Economics leans on mathematics and statistics, and variants add finance or data content. See BS Economics subjects.
Compare total cost and ask about scholarships.
Think about city, hostels and women-only options.
Confirm the awarding university if you apply to a government college.
Consider alternatives such as BS Banking and Finance or BS Statistics if your interests lean that way.
Most universities want intermediate (FA, FSc, ICS or I.Com) or A-levels with a minimum of about 45–60%, and many add a test or interview. Our BS Economics admissions page covers eligibility, documents and the application steps. For what comes next, see career options after BS Economics.
Many public and private universities and colleges do, across all provinces. Use the directory above, or the city lists for Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, Quetta and Faisalabad.

IBA Karachi is a selective option with Economics, Economics & Mathematics and Economics & Data Science programmes. Other options include the University of Karachi and Bahria University Karachi. Check QS directly for exact subject placements.
