Fear, as defined in the dictionary, means a feeling of distress or alarm felt by a person in uncertain or dangerous situations. Everyone has some fears, which is a normal and even a healthy part of life. However, the main aim of writing this article is to help people, at least to some extent, in confronting and overcoming those "fears" which sometimes take control of us in an unhealthy way and restricts our capabilities and potential to achieve the goals which we have set for ourselves.

These fears, commonly known as phobias, can stem out from an unpleasant situation experienced by an individual at some stage of his life, or they can be the result of how we perceive different situations and things in life. Phobias are also a common part of our lives, except when they go out of hand and start dominating and influencing our daily-life decisions in a negative way. Therefore, it is important to control or even eliminate these fears in order to overcome the obstacles they put forth. This requires a lot of determination, effort and courage from an individual, but in the end, the feeling of exhilaration is worth all this effort. I, from my personal experience, can say that overcoming your fears boosts your self-confidence and self-esteem to a great extent, and can help you achieve those things in life which you thought were never possible.

Whenever you are faced with a situation in which you think there is too much for you to handle, or if you feel afraid of doing or performing something, such as public speaking, close your eyes, take a deep breath and assure yourself that this is not the end of the world, and repeat to yourself that "I CAN DO IT". This will give you a new sense of hope and confidence, and will lead you to your goals of life, and will help you to overcome your doubts and fears. Having a CAN-DO attitude and positive thinking can work wonders in your life and can lead to self-fulfillment?
