Memory is considered to be an important characteristic of brilliant and intelligent students and is considered as the main reason for them to get good marks in exams and other tests or competitions. Because memory plays an important role to make the students remember the concepts which he/she needs to reproduce in the written or oral exam but one should keep in mind that memory does not mean the ability to cram. Cramming is highly not recommended because it limits the ability of a student to produce something creative. So, how can a student improve his/her memory? Here we have some tips and tricks!
1. Link and Associate one Data set to Other one
Whenever you come across a new information, do not enter that in your mind solely and separately rather link and associate that to other set of information in your mind and make connection to make a flow of information that would help you sharpen your ability to retrieve things.
2. Convert Words into Images or Diagrams
Another tips to improve memory is to simply convert all the concepts that you are learning from a book in to a diagram or image in your mind because it is a human psychic approach that he remembers the videos more as compare to audio so whenever you read something new just hold on for a minute and make a suitable diagram of that in your mind and you will see getting that concept into your mind easily.
3. Squeeze Complex Data into Short Acronyms
If you find some complex data which you are unable to absorb in your mind, you may opt a tip to squeeze that into short acronyms and later on upon the need, you may transform that into full concept. Like for example, when you learn different formulas of trigonometry, you got to find so many like:
Sin= Perpendicular/Hypotenuse
Cos = Base/Hypotenuse
Tan = Perpendicular/Base
So to make the memorize, you may use the short sentence like “Some People Have Curly Brown Hair Through Proper Brushing” where every first letter of each word gives an idea about the word to be put in the formula and this would help you retrieve the formulae.
4. Revision of Notes
Whenever you learn something, make a note of main things and concepts in a note book and you may see an improvement in your memory by revising the notes from time to time. It would not only memorize you the concept but you will be able to get through the creativity while reproducing that.
5. Read Loudly and Write afterwards
Many students keep things remembered by reading them loudly then writing that in a note book afterwards and seriously this is a good habit to be followed. Psychologists suggests that reading, touching the words and speaking loudly all at once can increase the effectiveness of leaning and a person can grab the concept more easily.
6. Get proper Sleep and take Regular Exercise
Sleep deprivation leads to dysfunctioning of brain so it is really important to get proper sleep for 7 to 9 hours at night as it would enhance the efficiency of brain. Brain takes its nutrients from blood for functioning properly. Physical exercise speeds up blood flow to brain and brain gets well-nourished so it is important to take regular exercise.
7. Nutrients for brain.
Take nutrients which are rich in vitamins and necessary minerals for mind and body. Nutrient having antioxidant like vitamin C, and E and beta carotene, vitamins B, omega-3 fatty acids and folic acid etc, are good for brain.
