New Opportunities for Teachers with Specific Educational Qualifications

The School Education Department has given positive news as says it has announced promotions of officials holding BS or MSc degree in math related subject.

With the notification issued by the Equivalence Committee of the department, the degree in BS (Mathematics) will henceforth be accepted as a 16 year formation to be eligible to promotion. It will also offer promotions to teachers who have done MSc in Computer Math in two years. The policy is the same with people that have 2-year MSc degree in Applied or Pure Mathematics.

Earlier on, the mathematics teachers did not feature in promotion departmental lists giving many of them an anticipation of career progression up to almost 10 years.

Provincial President of the Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) Mr Kashif Shehzad welcomed this decision but at the same time urged the government to give the same recognition to BS degree holders in all other subjects too in order to provide equal treatment to all the disciplines.
