Ministry of Religious Affairs Pakistan

The Ministry of Religious Affairs Pakistan is a government department mainly responsible to execute religious pilgrimages such as: Umrah, Hajj and Ziyarat to India or Iraq. The ministry has responsibility to look after the pilgrims and ensure their safety during stay abroad and safe return. It was established on 14 August 1947. The ministry has several subordinate bodies such as: Directorate of Hajj, the Council of Islamic Ideology, and the Madrassah Education Board.

All the affairs of ministry are under legislation of Federal Government.  Besides executing all the requirements of pilgrimages, the ministry is responsible to train Ulemas and Khateebs, research based Islamic studies and holding of Islamic conferences and seminars nationwide. The ministry obtains its funds from Federal Government. It is a well organized ministry and has a large number of employees. Moreover the ministry introduces packages and offers for pilgrims to facilitate them. The Ministry has exclusive sections each having different functions. It has admin wing, dawah and ziarat wing, Hajj wing and research and reference wing.
