Job Advertisement: Chief Medical Officer – NICL Karachi

National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a large public sector general insurance company, invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) on a retainership basis at its Karachi office.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Minimum Qualification:

MBBS Degree from a PMDC-recognized institution

FCPS qualification will be preferred

Experience:

At least 5 years of experience (including house job) in general medicine

3 years of experience in tertiary healthcare will be considered an advantage

License:

Must possess a valid PMDC license

Terms & Conditions of Appointment

Appointment is purely on retainership basis.

Either party can terminate the appointment with one month's written notice or payment in lieu thereof.

The CMO will not be a permanent employee or on a standard contract. Remuneration will be accounted under medical/administrative expenses and subject to withholding tax.

The CMO will not be listed on the company payroll.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working Hours:

3 to 5 hours once a week (between 09:00 AM and 05:00 PM on working days)

Availability as per need at NICL Head Office, Karachi

Scope of Work Includes:

Attending to female employees/patients

Handling emergency cases

Examination and referral of employees to specialists/hospitals

Visiting hospitals to check on NICL employees/dependents under treatment

Scrutiny and endorsement of medical bills (hospitals, labs, chemists)

Medical examination of newly recruited employees

Handling chronic disease cases

Managing medical facilities and controlling medical expense budget

Advising on employee wellbeing, healthcare safety, and disease prevention

Performing any medical-related tasks assigned by management

Note: Responsibilities extend to the NICL Head Office, Zonal Office, and Branch Offices in South Zone, not just the Karachi office.

Emergency Contact:
The CMO must be available online or by phone after office hours to address emergency situations.
