Position Announcement: Chief Medical Officer (CMO)

National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a leading public sector general insurance company, invites applications for the position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) on a retainership basis. The appointments are to be made for the Head Office in Karachi and the Zonal Office in Islamabad.

Position Details

• Position Title: Chief Medical Officer (CMO)

• Number of Positions: 02

• Location:

  • 01 for Head Office, Karachi

  • 01 for Zonal Office, Islamabad

• Age Limit: 35 – 45 years

• Gender: Male / Female

• Contract Type: Retainership basis

• Tenure: 3 years

Qualification & Experience

• Academic Qualification:

  • MBBS Degree from a recognized institution (HEC & PMDC verified)

  • Preference will be given to candidates with FCPS qualification

• Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of medical experience, including house job

  • 3 years' experience in tertiary healthcare will be an added advantage

Terms and Conditions

1. Nature of Employment:

   • This is a retainership-based appointment only, not a permanent or contractual employment.

2. Termination Clause:

   • Either party may terminate the contract by providing one month’s written notice or paying one month’s retainership fee in lieu.

3. Remuneration Structure:

   • The CMO will not be part of the NICL payroll.

   • Payment will be made under medical/administrative expenses.

   • Withholding tax will be deducted, not income tax.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Attend emergency cases.

• Examine employees and refer to specialists or hospitals when necessary.

• Visit hospitals to ensure proper treatment of NICL employees and dependents.

• Scrutinize, verify, and endorse medical bills.

• Conduct medical examinations of newly recruited staff.

• Assess chronic disease cases.

• Administer and control employee medical facilities and related expenses.

• Perform additional medical functions as assigned by management.

Additional Scope:

• CMO Karachi: Responsible for NICL Head Office and all South Zone branches.

• CMO Islamabad: Responsible for NICL Zonal Office and all North Zone branches.

• Availability: Must also be available via phone for emergencies outside office hours.
