Islamabad: The Quaid-i-Azam University campus turned into a battlefield for the second time in a month on Saturday as the two student groups clashed in the university and openly exchanged fire, leaving almost 30 individuals injured.

The aspirant’s pelted rocks on each other moreover there have also been reports of an exchange of fire among the two groups.

A heavy contingent of police reached the campus after being informed about the conflict between two groups.

The police fired tear-gas shells to disperse the angry aspirants.

A representative of police said that the varsity had been closed down for a week and the hostels had been vacated as well.

He furthermore added that the cases had also been lodged against the aspirants connected with both groups.

 A notification issued by the Dean office of QAU read:


“It is notified for the information of all local aspirants (those staying at hostels) that keeping in view the current law and order situation in the varsity all boys hostels of the university are being closed with instant effect until further order. That’s why the resident aspirants are ordered to clear out the hostel as soon as possible.”


It is important to mention here that the two groups had also clashed at the campus on April 22nd, 2017 after which police had to be positioned on the campus.
