A Maritime Education Endowment Fund is being created by the federal government to help deserving students in Pakistan’s coastal areas, Minister of Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry reported on Sunday.

With help from 24News, the fund aims to grant scholarships to students living near the coast, so they have access to top education and improved prospects.

The objective is to ensure that coastal area students can take part in regular education programs, according to the minister. The Government said, at first, the project will help coastal communities and later it will expand to the entire nation.

So that the selection and scholarship distribution are transparent, a special committee will be set up for this purpose. The minister made it clear that this process would not show any signs of unfair treatment.
