A province-wide eye screening effort for government school students has been introduced by the Sindh Education Department due to the rising worries about how mobile phones affect children’s sight.
The district education offices have been given a written directive, telling school leaders to assist the campaign. An NOC has also been granted to an NGO that is permitted to carry out vision testing.
Under the plan, every district will offer students eye examinations at no cost. If your child is diagnosed with vision problems, they can get glasses for no charge.
Dr. Fouzia Khan pointed out the critical importance of the initiative. There is an impact of mobile phones on children’s vision. She said school leaders should ensure that eyes are examined by cooperating, to help guard children against lasting vision loss.
It is often the case, as experts suggest, that children in poor areas don’t get eye care and therefore fail to receive help for problems such as nearsightedness or farsightedness. Issues with vision that are undetected can seriously affect a child’s work at school and daily functioning.
Many health experts keep insisting that vision screenings should be mandatory at school admissions to catch any problems early.
