Japan gives Rs8.7m financial grant to NUML

Islamabad: Tokyo on Monday, gave the university a financial grant of Rs 8.7million to improve the learning environment and also to get the equipment for the Japanese language department at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML).

For this purpose, an agreement was signed between the Japanese Embassy Charge’d’ Affairs Junya Matsuura and Principal of NUML Major General (R) Ziauddin Najam.

This financial grant has been provided under the Grant Assistance for Cultural Grassroots Projects.

The donation will be used to purchase new equipment for the Japanese language department at National University of Modern Languages like computers, teaching and learning stuff, air conditioners equipment, furniture and also a server for distance learning.

Matsuura while speaking at the signing ceremony said that developing the educational facilities was the main concerns of Japanese government.

Noting that 2017 marks the 65th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations among Pakistan and Japan, he added that the financial grant will assist in strengthen relations more between the two states.

Matsuura showed the hope that the improvement of learning environment at the centre will greatly benefit the aspirants of Japanese language at varsity.

Principal of NUML Maj Gen (R) Najam said that approximately 25 occidental and oriental languages are taught at the university.

He furthermore said that Pakistani students have a deep respect for the Japanese language and that aid provided by Tokyo will assist NUML in promoting Japanese language more.
