Based on Economic Survey 2024-25, the Federal Government gave Rs. 61.12 billion to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to carry out 159 development projects at public universities and at HEC itself.
Regarding the budget of Rs 61.115 billion, the entire 100 percent was given permission by the government to be spent this financial year.
The amount released by HEC for development projects in universities and educational institutions as per April 2025 is Rs 32.6 billion.
The funding is earmarked for 138 active projects and 21 new projects meant to upgrade research spaces, buildings used in learning, and technical infrastructure. Twenty-six projects are planned to be completed in the current financial year, out of which the funding for 18 has been fixed.
Among the allocations, Rs 12 billion was saved for the design of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme.
Also, Rs 9 billion has been added to the fund for the PM’s Laptop Scheme, so students across the nation can enjoy better digital resources and learning chances.
