BS fees in Pakistan depend on the university and the seat type. Virtual University charges Rs. 1,000 tuition per credit hour, plus Rs. 1,000 enrollment and Rs. 500 examination fee each semester. At Punjab University, the regular BS English or Applied Psychology fee is Rs. 35,575 per semester plus about Rs. 14,250 in fall dues, while the self-supporting section charges Rs. 78,650. GCUF lists first-semester fees from about Rs. 23,500 to Rs. 47,400 depending on the programme. Always confirm against the university’s own schedule before paying a challan.
Choosing a university for a four-year degree is as much a money decision as an academic one. This page puts the published BS fees of six universities side by side, explains how each one charges, and shows the extras that rarely appear in headline numbers. If you are still choosing a degree, start with our BS degree guide, and check BS admission dates before you budget.
Most public universities quote a flat fee per semester, which varies by department. Virtual University (VU) and some private universities charge per credit hour instead. For a credit-hour university, multiply the rate by the credit hours you register for, then add the fixed charges.
Public universities run two kinds of seats. Morning (regular) seats are subsidised and need higher merit. Self-supporting or replica seats cost more and usually have lower merit cut-offs. The degree is the same, so only the timing and the fee differ.
The first semester costs more because admission-time charges are added. These typically include registration, a development fund and a refundable library security deposit. Ask the admissions office which of these are refundable before you budget.
| University | How the fee is charged | Typical published figure |
|---|---|---|
| Virtual University | Per credit hour | Rs. 1,000 per credit hour, plus semester charges |
| Punjab University | Per semester | Morning Rs. 15,750 to 55,000; self-supporting Rs. 47,300 to 132,500; plus dues |
| GCUF | Per semester | Rs. 23,500 to 47,400 (first semester) |
| Fatima Jinnah Women University | Per semester | About Rs. 52,000 to 76,000 |
| BZU Multan | Per semester | About Rs. 25,000 to 43,650 |
| University of Education | Per semester | About Rs. 20,000 to 27,000 (morning) |
Based on these published figures, VU is the lowest-cost route per semester, but its per-credit-hour model means your total depends on how many credit hours and lab courses you take.
The Virtual University fee structure is set centrally and applies to all BS programmes. The one-time charges are Rs. 3,000 admission, Rs. 2,500 registration, Rs. 2,000 refundable security and a Rs. 500 processing fee, with a Rs. 2,000 convocation fee at the end.
| Fee head | Amount (Rs.) | When |
|---|---|---|
| Admission fee | 3,000 | Once |
| Registration fee | 2,500 | Once |
| Security fee (refundable) | 2,000 | Once |
| Admission processing fee | 500 | Once |
| Enrollment fee | 1,000 | Each semester |
| Tuition fee | 1,000 | Per credit hour |
| Examination fee | 500 | Each semester |
| Lab fee, computer science programmes | 2,150 | Per credit hour of lab |
| Lab fee, bio sciences programmes | 3,200 | Per credit hour of lab |
A 15-credit-hour semester with no lab courses costs Rs. 15,000 tuition plus Rs. 1,000 enrollment and Rs. 500 examination, which is Rs. 16,500. Your first semester adds the Rs. 8,000 of one-time charges. Lab-heavy programmes such as BS Computer Science or Biotechnology cost more, because lab credit hours are charged on top. The revised schedule applies from Spring 2026 and also covers Fall 2026 admissions. Campus-level pages sometimes quote different amounts, so treat the central VU schedule as the one that applies.
The Punjab University fee structure is published as a dues schedule with two parts. The “A” fee is the main semester charge set by department. The “B” fee covers service charges and other funds. Programme totals at private universities, such as the University of Lahore fee, run well above the public sector, so compare like with like before you shortlist.
Convert everything to a per-semester figure first. For credit-hour universities, multiply the rate by the credit hours in your scheme of studies. For programme totals, divide by eight semesters.
Add registration, development, security and any lab or field-work charges. Security deposits are refundable, so budget for them but do not count them as cost.
A lower fee on a self-supporting seat may be worth it if you miss the morning merit. Before you commit, look at jobs after BS in your field so the fee is weighed against likely outcomes.
