Government of Pakistan – Vacancy Announcement

Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination invites applications from qualified Pakistani nationals for a senior-level position on a contract basis.

Position Available

Technical Advisor (MP-I Scale)

?? Location: Islamabad
?? Employment Type: Contract (3 years, extendable up to 2 years annually based on performance)
?? Quota: Open Merit

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • Ph.D., M.Phil., or Master’s degree in:
    • Climate Change
    • Environmental Sciences
    • Renewable Energy
    • Natural Resource Management
    • Environmental Economics & Policy
    • Climate Finance
    • Or any relevant discipline
  • Degree must be from an institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission
  • Preference will be given to:
    • Graduates from internationally reputed universities
    • Candidates with high-impact research publications
    • Applicants with interdisciplinary backgrounds (e.g., finance or law)

2. Experience

  • Minimum:
    • 7 years (for Ph.D. holders)
    • 9 years (for Master’s degree holders)
  • At least 3 years in senior management roles

Preferred Experience:

  • Policy formulation and strategic planning
  • Climate change initiatives and development projects
  • Work with international organizations (e.g., UN agencies, climate finance institutions)
  • Experience in:
    • Investment banking / carbon finance
    • Climate law
    • Environmental startups

3. Key Competencies

  • Strong understanding of national and global climate change issues
  • Expertise in:
    • Policy and strategy formulation
    • Climate modelling and financial modelling
    • Data analysis and reporting
    • MRV (Measurement, Reporting & Verification) systems
  • Knowledge of:
    • Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
    • Environmental management and biodiversity conservation
    • Linkages between climate, energy, and economic policies
  • Ability to coordinate with:
    • Government bodies
    • International donors
    • NGOs and civil society

4. Additional Requirements

  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in drafting climate-related laws and policies
  • Strong analytical and report-writing abilities

5. Age Limit

  • Maximum 62 years (as of application closing date)
