CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Technical Advisor (SPPS-I)

Our client, the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad, invites applications from experienced and seasoned professionals for the position of Technical Advisor (SPPS-I) on a contractual basis.


Position Overview

The Technical Advisor will provide high-level policy, analytical, and strategic support to senior leadership on national and international trade matters, aligned with Pakistan’s economic priorities and global trade obligations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate policy recommendations, strategic frameworks, and implementation plans aligned with national economic objectives and international trade commitments.

  • Advise senior leadership on emerging commercial and geopolitical developments affecting Pakistan’s trade outlook, including risks, opportunities, and required policy adjustments.

  • Prepare policy briefs, analytical notes, and position papers to support informed decision-making at Ministerial and inter-ministerial levels.

  • Provide technical inputs for WTO negotiationsFree Trade Agreements (FTAs) formulation and review, non-tariff measure reforms, and bilateral/multilateral trade engagements.

  • Identify policy priorities related to export promotion, market access, trade facilitation, standards compliance, services trade, investment linkages, and global value-chain integration.

  • Review Pakistan’s economic and trade-related policies and provide evidence-based recommendations aligned with national development priorities, fiscal strategies, and sectoral growth objectives.

  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of trade policies on competitiveness, industry upgrading, and export performance, and recommend corrective measures where required.


Pre-Requisites

Education

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Economics, International Trade, Public Policy, Development Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration, or any related field

  • Degree must be from an HEC-recognized local or foreign institution

  • Additional qualifications, certifications, training, or experience in Trade Policy or Tariff-related areas will be considered a strong advantage

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in the relevant field

  • Ability to work independently with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong communication skills at national and international levels

  • High standards of professionalism, discipline, and integrity

  • Strong technical and management skills, with the ability to coach and guide cross-functional teams


Terms & Conditions

  1. Recruitment will be made in accordance with the updated Special Professional Pay Scale (SPPS) Policy, issued by the Establishment Division, Government of Pakistan, vide O.M. No. 1/11/2018-E-6 dated 09-04-2024.

  2. Appointment will be on a contract basis for an initial period of two (02) years, extendable for another two (02) years subject to requirements and satisfactory performance.
