CAREER OPPORTUNITY – HEAD OF RESEARCH (SPPS-III)

Organization: Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan
Location: Islamabad

The Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan, invites applications from experienced and seasoned professionals for the position of Head of Research on a contractual basis. This is a senior-level position under the Special Professional Pay Scale (SPPS-III).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of trade and economic data concerning Pakistan and global markets.

  • Prepare tailor-made analytical reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct analysis at both micro and macroeconomic levels.

  • Prepare periodic trade monitoring reports, newsletters, and other relevant publications.

  • Assign research-related tasks received from different Wings of the Ministry to researchers.

  • Track trade-related data updates on major indicators relevant to the Ministry of Commerce.

  • Feed information into dashboards for data analysis and visualization.

  • Conduct background research to support the development of export strategies and policies.

Pre-Requisites:

Education:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in International Economics, International Trade, or related discipline from an HEC-recognized local or international university.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in research and analysis of international trade and economic data.

  • Experience in leading a team, preferably in a research institute or policy environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Competence in trade and economic data preparation, analysis, research, and report drafting.

  • Fully conversant with latest economic developments at national and global levels.

  • Strong knowledge of trade-related matters in Pakistan, with the ability to place them in a comparative international framework.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Demonstrated ability in decision-making, team management, and delivering results under tight deadlines.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. Recruitment will be made under the updated Special Professional Pay Scale (SPPS) Policy issued by the Establishment Division, Government of Pakistan (O.M. No. 1/11/2018-E-6 dated 09-04-2024).

  2. Appointment will be on contract basis, initially for two (02) years, extendable for another two (02) years based on performance and organizational requirements.
