National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) – CEO Position Advertisement

Organization Overview

National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) is a premier public sector organization owned by the Government of Pakistan. It is a leading name in Pakistan's General Insurance industry.

Position: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

NICL invites applications from accomplished, result-oriented, and dynamic professionals for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Option 1:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, or a foreign qualification of equivalent level recognized by HEC

  • At least 10 years' experience, out of which 5 years as:

    • Key Officer, or

    • Director, or

    • Chief Executive, or

    • Principal Officer in the insurance industry, or

    • Officer with Insurance Regulator

Option 2:

  • (a) ACII or FCII

  • (b) Fellow or Associate of the Institute or Society of Actuaries or equivalent qualification as recognized by the Pakistan Society of Actuaries

  • (c) Master's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or Actuarial Science from a University recognized by HEC

  • At least 5 years' experience as:

    • Key Officer, or

    • Director, or

    • Chief Executive, or

    • Principal Officer in the insurance industry, or

    • Officer with Insurance Regulator

Regulatory Requirements

No individual shall be appointed to the position of CEO unless they:

  • Meet the criteria set forth in the Insurance Companies (Sound and Prudent Management) Regulations, 2012 issued by SECP

  • Fulfill criteria in all other applicable laws and regulations

  • Have their appointment approved by SECP

Key Responsibilities

  1. Implement the vision, mission, and goals of the Company as outlined by the Board of Directors

  2. Report company performance to the Board

  3. Provide inspired leadership; create a culture of performance, positive morale, and accountability

  4. Provide a marketing plan and the vision of the company's future development

  5. Lead development and execution of short and long-term operational policies and strategic plans

  6. Assess risks to the company and ensure they are monitored and minimized

  7. Bear responsibilities for the company's finances, including working closely with the CFO to prepare budgets, and keep the Board informed regarding cash management, investments, and internal audits

  8. Work closely with Human Resources (HR) to streamline hiring practices, fixation of perks, privileges, and benefit disbursement of employees

  9. Oversee quality control throughout the company, establishing goals for each department in partnership with division managers

  10. Assure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations

  11. Represent the company as required, including attendance at important functions, industry events, and public meetings; create alliances for the company, if required

  12. Evaluate the work of other executives within the company

  13. Ensure the company maintains high social impact and adheres to its corporate social responsibility

  14. All other responsibilities mentioned in all applicable laws
