Lahore: The teaching community of government sector educational institutes of Punjab is unhappy along with the federal financial budget 2017-18 and called this budget anti-teacher.

According to the teachers, these newly imposed taxes will increase the burden on the teaching community. They further added that the government should have increased their salaries according to their requirements.

In the federal budget 2017-18 the government has announced an increase in salaries of government employees up to 10%.

This increase by the government is being extensively criticized by government employees of all sectors.

While talking to the media sources, the president of Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) Chaudhry Sarfraz said that the insufficient increase in salaries was injustice along with the teaching community.

While talking, he also said that the government should have increased the salaries up to 20%.

The increase is also not enough for the pensioners, he added. He also added that "there must have been an increase of at least 30% in pensions.”

The president of Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA) Hafiz Abdul Khaliq said that government should have increased the accommodation allowances as well as the other expenditures for the teaching community.
