Punjab government has passed a development budget of Rs. 110 billion to government schools in the province in fiscal year 2025-26. The huge budgetary allocation is intended to solve the perennial problem in 38,000 government schools, which is to provide the lacking facilities, improve the infrastructure and provide basic amenities.
The new budget envisages the construction of 50,000 new classrooms to overcome the deficit of space, and the furniture deficit in schools will be overcome. Also, 72 government schools will be modified and converted into “Schools of Eminence” that shall redefine quality education in the province.
The plan will also see completion of boundary walls and other important facilities and all the improvements will be implemented in a new model where school management councils are put in the approval process. By December 31, 2025, the government has aspired to furnish all the basic facilities in schools.
The A-class employees and teachers of UETK have also been approved to get financial help and the students of government schools will be given scholarships to motivate them in terms of academic performance.
