One of the largest banks of the country, United Bank Limited (UBL), on Monday announced that it had hired Sima Kamil as the new president as well as chief executive officer (CEO) of the bank, to replace outgoing CEO Wajahat Hussain.
Sima Kamil, who will at first serve as deputy CEO at United Bank Limited, is slated to take charge of the top position after May 31st, 2017 when Hussain leaves the company.
As per the official website of UBL, the bank controls assets of over Rs1 trillion.

It runs 1,281 branches across the country; including 22 Islamic banking branches while 1 branch in Karachi export processing zone as well as 18 branches outside the country.
Earlier, the newly appointed CEO has been leading Habib bank limited’s (HBL) Branch Banking since 2011 and supervised a large increase of branch network of the respective bank.
She dealt along with HBL's retail, customer, small and medium initiatives, as well as rural banking initiatives, and also the wealth management division of the bank as a head of the HBL Asset Management Company Limited.

More recently, she lead the development and launch of Women’s Market Program of HBL in an effort to promote Habit Bank Limited as the top leading bank for women in Pakistan.
In the pats, she had been associated along with the microfinance industry as a manager of the First MicroFinance Bank.
She has also an experience at international financial institutions, including American Express, a financial services company as well as Standard Chartered Bank.

Kamil gets a business degree from Kingston University in United Kingdom and got an MBA degree from the City University, London.
She heads the Board of Governors of the Karachi Grammar School and is also a board member of the Notre Dame Institute of Education.
