Punjab University To Be Reopened In Two Phases

Punjab University has announced the reopening schedule and as per the notification, the university will be reopened in two phases. According to the university officials in the first phase the students of MS/M.Phil and Ph.D. programs will resume the academic activities from 1st February 2021. The students of the postgraduate programs will complete their research work and thesis and they will be entitled to the hostel facility from 1st February after the decision by the respective head of departments and deans. However, the second phase will start from 1st April 2021. 

Hostel Facility For Students

In the first phase of Punjab University reopening, it has been directed to complete the course work for the various degree programs such as BS (1st and 8th semester), MA/MSc (1st and 4th semester), MS/M.Phil and Ph.D. programs till 31st March 2021. The students will attend the face to face classes and the semester will be condensed. The candidates of BS 1st semester, BS 8th semester, MA/MSc 1st and 4th semester will be also allowed to stay in the hostel if required. The students of B.S 8th semester and M.A/M.Sc. 4th semester students can avail the hostel facility after completion of their previous semesters. It is furthermore mentioned that the students would be only allowed to stay in a hostel if they have to attend a face to face classes. Moreover, the candidates are also required to pay the department and hostel dues on time. The students of all semesters would have the option to take online or physical classes and fee exemption will be provided to the students who will attend online classes. 

Second Phase of Reopening 

In the second phase of reopening, the classes of BS programs (3rd and 5th semester), MA/MSc (3rd semester) will continue in the online mode. The students may be called before the 31st of March to take the on-campus classes if the situation of coronavirus gets better. Punjab University had earlier announced to conduct the online examinations of the various degree programs. It had been said to complete the online exams of BS, MS/M.Phil and Ph.D. by 15th February 2021.
