Punjab University has achieved yet another milestone by getting ranked at first position for excellence in natural science research. The Nature Publishing Group, which is a renowned and celebrated international publishing group, has acknowledged PU’s distinguished and high impact research work in Natural sciences and bestowed it first position at its 2019 rankings.

In NPG’s research output rankings of Pakistani Universities 2019, Punjab University stood first leaving behind country’s science universities which is rather remarkable and worth applauding because it is mainly a general category university. This ranking has based its merit on research outputs published by Pakistani Universities from 1st January 2018 to 31st December 2019.

Punjab University Academic Staff Association Congratulates Research Faculty for Their Win

The research papers published in natural science field included subjects of chemistry, physical sciences, life sciences and earth & environmental sciences. Punjab University’s article count (AC) has been 10 and fractional count (FC) has been 7.21. In a press statement released by Punjab University Academic Staff Association, President of ASA Prof Dr Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry and Javed Sami ASA Secretary have commended the efforts and performance of PU’s natural science faculty. They regarded this victory as an achievement and major breakthrough in Pakistan’s research field which is yet to be established and there is much more promotion and advancements required.

The Positions of Other Pakistani Universities in Natural Science Research by NPG’s Ranking List 2019

The ASA President congratulated the faculty members and PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad for their win. The other Pakistani Universities that ranked in this list included COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) 2nd position, Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan (IUB) 3rd position, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) 4th position, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) 5th position, University of Education 6th position, University of Management and Technology (UMT) 7th position, National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES) 8th position, University of Peshawar 9th position and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) at 10th position.
