Lahore: keeping in view the issues faced by the large number of aspirants, the Legal Education Committee of the Punjab Bar Council on Thursday suggested the Pakistan Bar Council to extend the 3-years Literally Legum Baccalaureus (LLB) program for more two years.

The decision to forward the recommendation to the Punjab Bar council was taken at a meeting organized in Lahore after thousands of aspirants took it to the Mall road protesting against the step of PBC to discontinue the current 3-year LLB program.

According to the press release issued by Punjab Bar Council, the Chairperson Legal Education Committee Farah Ejaz Baig presided over the meeting. Other members Syed Azmat Ali Bukhari, Sheikh Abdul Ghaffar and Rana Intezar Hussain were also present.

The committee in unison decided that the PBC will be requested to continue the 3-year LLB degree program for the aspirants who are set to complete their bachelor’s degrees in 2016 and 2017, so that the educational years of thousands of aspirants that are registered in regular BA degree are not wasted.

The committee furthermore decided that 53rd written examination will be conducted from October 1st, 2016. The date for the submission of forms has also been till august 15th, 2016. The result of the 52nd exam would be announced on August 22nd, the statement said.

Before this day, large number of aspirants blocked the Mall road to protest against the decision to discontinue the 3-year LLB degree program.

They demanded the PBC to instantly withdraw its notification in this respect, so that the valued educational years of thousands of law candidate’s crosswise Pakistan are not wasted.

The PBC had also instructed all of the law universities and colleges to admit just up to 100 students in the 5-year LLB degree program yearly, whereas an education of 12 years was set as a minimum eligibility criteria for admission.
