The very first meeting of the Education Testing Council (ETC) was organized at Higher Education Commission (HEC) Secretariat on Saturday. This meeting was presided over by the executive director of Higher Education commission Prof. Dr. Arshad Ali.

The commissioners from Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Government of Punjab, Government of KPK, Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Vice Chancellor of PU, Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, Islamabad, Vice Chancellor of UoP, candidates of Sustainable Policy Development Institute Islamabad and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority along with the other members of the council were present in the meeting.

The chairperson of Higher Education commission Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed was particularly invited to present the preview of the Education testing council. He point out the concept as well as objectives of ETC launched earlier by the commission in May 2016.

He highlighted that this step has been undertaken on the instructions of the Government of Pakistan for extending a free, equivalent, standardized, and transparent testing service for the aspirants across the country for the admission to universities and degree awarding institutes.

The Council was told that since its launch more than 100,000 applicants have been successfully tested for the award of scholarships.

The members of the council appreciated this step of having a national level public testing body and the pledge to institute a uniform, standardized as well as transparent judgment service free of cost crosswise the country relieving the aspirants as well as their parents for take on multiple admission tests.

The Council has decided that at first the test will be launched for fall 2017 Admission Session at undergraduate level.

The varsities will be encouraged to adopt the Education testing council Test though, slowly but surely all the Universities and Degree Awarding Institutions shall be required to hold the test.

The Council also decided that firstly the test would be offered two times in a year.
