A Two Day International Conference to Be Held At Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU)

A two day conference will continue from 19 to 20 February has been stared in Allama Iqbal Open University today at 10: am. The conference has theme of, ‘Social Impact of Research’. Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood will attend the inaugural session today. The faculty of education at AIOU has been holding the Research and Practices in Education (ICRPE) conferences for past three years to discuss latest trends and innovations happening at the international education sector with researchers.
Oral presentation, posters presentation, round table discussions, panel presentations, online presentations and projects will be held during the conferences. Researchers, scholars and academicians have been invited from Pakistan and abroad to share their research and intellectual work. The professionals belonging from various fields would be able to learn from experts and gain knowledge through experience and research.

Saudi Arabia to Announce Scholarship Programmes for Pakistani Students to Study in Saudi Universities

Dr. Ali Mohammed Hawsawi, the Kingdom’s cultural attaché while talking to Arab News said, ‘I expect a list of Pakistani students will arrive at my office within two to three weeks. We will send applications to the ministry of education in Saudi Arabia, and then we will be happy to welcome Pakistani students from next year, everything will be free for them ,scholarships between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have a long history, and you see many graduates of Saudi here today in Pakistan’.

Moreover he said, in the past Pakistani students used to take admissions in Saudi Arabian Universities only for Islamic studies courses. But now they are open to take admission in other fields as well. He said, ‘Now studies are open in everything — science, biology, all the subjects. Consequently, Saudi Arabia is now open to Pakistani students. Through my office, we have found universities across Saudi Arabia that can give scholarships’.
He said there are almost 3 million Pakistanis residing in different cities especially in Makkah and Madina. Pakistani students feel extremely happy to travel to Saudi Arabia. Pakistani students feel they are living at the own country while living in Saudi Arabia, in eating, drinking and worship, our mosques, Masjids — the student won’t find or feel that he is in a strange place’, he said.

On the other hand Pakistan is looking forward to strength cultural ties with Saudi Arabia and has offered Saudi Students to study in Pakistani Universities.’ We plan to bring Saudi students to study here in engineering and medical colleges since there are excellent universities here, I have visited some universities and will visit more in Lahore, we hope to build relationships and collaborations between our universities in research and across academic operations, we are planning to bring Saudi students to study here at engineering and medical colleges since there are excellent universities here’Dr. Ali Mohammed Hawsawi said.

Last year almost 700 students were awarded totally Saudi Government funded scholarships to study in Saudi Universities. This year the numbers of scholarships are expected to increase than last year.
