A Delegation from University of Bradford to Visit Pakistan for Academic Partnership

A delegation from University of Bradford, UK will be visiting Pakistan from February 22 to 28 to start academic partnership with Pakistan. The Vice Chancellor of University of Bradford Mr. Brian Cantor will lead the delegation. They are due to visit Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi and meet alumni, faculty members, and stake holders of different Pakistani Universities.

The delegation will host dinners, hold discussions, attend meeting with senior educational governmental officials. The University of Bradford has titled this series meeting as; ‘‘Destination Bradford: Education & Culture from the heart of the UK’. Specifically in Lahore, the delegation will attend Lahore Literature Festival on February 23 and 24.

Sixth Convocation Ceremony of Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) Held On Saturday

Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Karachi celebrated its 6th convocation on Saturday 404 students were awarded with degrees. Gold and silver medals and certificates were given to position holders and high achievers. The Governor of Sindh attended the event as chief guest. He congratulated the students and their parents.

While addressing to graduates he said, ‘Pakistan deserves to have success stories for the world, as we haven’t been able to do so over the years for one reason or another. But you should step forward and become an inspiration for the generations to follow.”

He said while dreaming about your future done exclude Pakistan, the country has given you brains and education and it is time for your pay back. You should become an inspiration for generations to come. Later DUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Faizullah Abbasi congratulated the students, faculty members and administrative staff of the university and commended them all for their hard work and progress. He said the university has been able to flourish so rapidly just because of DUET family’s collective efforts. He motivated the students by saying, ‘Let’s make Dawood University great again’.

Land for Establishment of Media University Islamabad Acquired

The Federal Ministry for Media and Broadcasting made an official announcement stating that land for establishment of Media University Islamabad has been acquired on Wednesday. The announcement was made during a meeting which was jointly concluded by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry.

The participants of meeting decided to set up two faculties in the university. The two faculties will be for performing arts and technology courses. In Performing arts faculty teaching of acting and script writing will be a focus. Technology faculty will have a modern school as well. A committee to collect recommendations is being set up which will prepare feasibility report for Media University establishment.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry announced in November that Pakistan University of Media Sciences will be the name of the new university. He had tweeted, ‘This will be our biggest contribution to Pak media industry’. The plan for establishment of Media University has entered into next phase and further implementations will occur after feasibility report.
