BS Statistics admissions run across the year, not in two fixed windows, and each university sets its own rules. HEC’s minimum entry requirement is an HSSC or equivalent in any group. In practice, some universities ask for mathematics, some run an admission test, and some decide on intermediate marks alone.

The HEC minimum is wide, but universities can set higher conditions. Here is how five institutions set theirs:

So FSc Pre-Engineering and ICS students have the widest options, but FSc Pre-Medical, I.Com and some FA students can apply to certain universities. Always confirm whether mathematics is required.

How BS Statistics admission works

  1. Shortlist universities. Compare cities, fees and test routes using our BS Statistics universities list.

  2. Check the notice. Confirm eligibility, the application window and any test dates.

  3. Register for the test, if required. PU, for example, asks for its admission test before you apply to a department.

  4. Apply online and pay the application fee.

  5. Sit the test or interview, where the university requires one.

  6. Track the merit lists. Lists often come in rounds. See the BS Statistics merit lists.

  7. Confirm your seat by paying the fee and presenting original documents before the deadline.

Admission tests and merit

  • University of the Punjab. According to our PU admissions page, the PU admission test is compulsory for undergraduate admission and carries 25% of the merit calculation. The 2026 second test registration closed on 3 July 2026, with the test scheduled for 19 July 2026.

  • LCWU. For Fall 2026, forms ran 15–30 June, the written test for BS Statistics was held on 8 July, and the first open-merit list was displayed on 21 July.

  • University of Karachi. UoK publishes open-merit closing percentages by department. For 2025, its closing percentages for Statistics (Intermediate Science or Arts group with Mathematics) were 45.09, 46.27 and 55.75 across the three categories in the document, which is far lower than at many competitive programmes.

Closing merit changes every year and varies widely between universities, so use these as scale only. Check your university’s current notice.

Documents checklist

Requirements differ, but most universities ask for:

  • Matric and intermediate result cards or certificates

  • CNIC or B-form copy

  • Passport-size photographs

  • IBCC equivalence certificate for O-level, A-level or foreign qualifications

  • Test or entrance results, where applicable

If your final intermediate result is pending, some universities allow provisional admission. PU, for instance, accepts the Part-I result for BS 1st semester when Part-II results are awaited. UoK has asked candidates awaiting results to submit them at least three days before the admission list is announced. Check each notice.

Some universities admit students to the third year (two-year programme) or fifth semester:

  • University of Karachi lists a BS (3rd year intake) in Statistics for graduates.

  • University of the Punjab accepts BA/BSc/Associate Degree holders for BS 5th semester.

  • University of Peshawar has listed BS 5th-semester admissions for 2026.

  • University of Southern Punjab runs a BS Statistics (2.5 years) route for graduates.

Fees

Fees vary by university and by seat type. As one official example, the University of the Punjab’s 2026-27 schedule lists the regular BS Statistics “A” fee at Rs 29,950 per semester and the self-supporting fee at Rs 54,450, plus Rs 14,250 in dues for the fall semester. First-time students also pay a Rs 9,000 registration fee (if not already registered), a Rs 500 development fund and a Rs 5,000 refundable library security deposit.   • Check the maths rule early. If you didn’t study maths at intermediate, look for universities like LCWU that allow a maths test.
