What you pay for a BA depends far more on how you study than on the degree name. At Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), the first semester of the Associate Degree in Arts (BA General) costs Rs 6,310. In the campus programs checked for this page, semester fees at the University of Chenab run from Rs 84,000 to Rs 99,550, and KIET lists Rs 112,500 for a 15-credit semester. Figures below come from official fee schedules and were checked on 12 October 2026. Fees change by intake, so confirm the amount on your own challan before paying.

Is the BA fee the same as the ADP fee?

For the two-year degree, largely yes. Many universities replaced the old two-year BA/BSc with the Associate Degree Program (ADP). Punjab University changed the BA/BSc nomenclature to Associate Degree Arts/Science in 2019. AIOU lists its “Associate Degree in Arts (BA General)” as the BA equivalent. Always read the program name on the fee schedule, because a “BA” row and an “ADP” row may refer to the same degree at one university and different degrees at another. AIOU BA and ADP fee structure

The table shows first-semester fees from AIOU’s Autumn 2026 schedule. Eligibility for all programs below is FA, FSc, A-levels or 12 years of education.

Face-to-face science associate degrees cost more because of labs and campus facilities:

Two cautions apply. These are first-semester fees only, and AIOU notes that the amounts are extracted from prospectuses and that errors and omissions are possible. Punjab University BA/ADP exam fees

At Punjab University, the old BA/BSc has become the Associate Degree. Students who are not in a regular college (private and late-college candidates) pay the university’s exam fee rather than semester tuition. For the 2026 annual examinations, PU’s notification lists a single fee of Rs 11,290 for A.D Arts, Rs 13,040 for A.D Science and Rs 15,225 for private A.D Commerce candidates. Regular and late-college Commerce candidates were listed at Rs 12,090. PU’s fee schedule also lists Rs 11,290 per exam for B.A./Associate Degree Arts.

Check eligibility before you plan around this route. PU’s 2026 notice states that Part-I admissions were open only to candidates with supply papers and valid chances, and fresh candidates were not allowed to appear in Part-I. Campus ADPs cost much more than distance learning, and the structure differs by university. The examples below come from each institution’s own fee page.

What the semester fee may not include

Check your fee schedule for these items before budgeting:

• One-time admission fees: these range from Rs 20,000 at Newports to Rs 30,000 at KIET in the examples above.
• Refundable deposits: KIET and Newports both list Rs 20,000 deposits, which you get back under their rules.
• Separate exam fees: PU charges them per exam. Some campus schedules, such as Chenab’s first two semesters, show exam fees as a separate line.
• Credit-hour billing: at KIET and Newports, your cost depends on how many credit hours you register.

How to pay

Generate your fee challan from your university’s official portal, then pay through the channels printed on it. For AIOU, the challan is downloaded from online.aiou.edu.pk/challan. Keep the paid copy for enrolment verification and any refund claim.

Which option suits you?

If cost is the deciding factor, AIOU’s BA Open Courses (Rs 5,770) or Associate Degree in Arts (Rs 6,310) is the cheapest route among the schedules checked here, by a wide margin.
