Sharing, as soon as we hear this word, a feeling of love, care ad concern comes into our minds. As the saying goes Sharing is caring. It shows our care and concern for the person with whom we share. It can be anything from sharing your new PSP (play station portable) with your younger sibling, sharing your favorite lunch with your classmate, giving your bicycle to your neighbor’s kid for a joy ride on a sunny day and even sharing space on the road with other passerby.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "He whose property exceed his needs, let him support the one whose property does not (meet his needs), and he whose food exceeds his needs, let him share it with those who do not have food." – (Fiqh-us-Sunnah, 3:93C)

Sharing things which we have in excess is needed from us. Be it our books, clothes, toys, chocolates and of course food! Whatever we have in excess we should share with the one who doesn’t have any and make them feel a part of the society and let them not feel alienated. Sharing creates a feeling of togetherness. When it becomes prevalent in a society, makes it a balanced one. It shows a true sense of caring towards others.

Well, Alhamdulillah we do share a lot of things in our daily life with our siblings and friends and also enjoy that and the person with whom you shared your things might have had even thanked you for your kind gesture and might have even offered you something in return at a later time.

We do love to share with our family and friends, don’t we? We do. But wait, do we really love to share when it comes to sharing our favorite things? Probably not. But we would love if anyone would share their favorite things with us and even appreciate their kind gesture so why not be the first to do what we would like others to do with us ?

Narrated Anas (r): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself."- (Sahih Buqari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 12)

It requires some really good amount of sacrifice. For that we have to develop a sense of sacrifice in ourselves, a feeling of love for others. We need to love the person with whom we are going to share our things, we need to love them more than the thing which we are going to share. Just think about the most important of all, the pleasure of Allah! Which we can gain through sharing. The pleasure of Allah which we all love to gain.

You shall never attain good unless you spend your favorite things; and Allah knows whatever you spend. - (The Holy Quran-3:92).

So next time when your mother tells you to share your favorite chocolate or book with your younger sibling, Do it with a broad smile, after all you are going to earn huge reward with such a small deal!
