Government Postgraduate Colleges in Pakistan – List & Details

Govt Postgraduate Colleges in Punjab and KPK: City-Wise Guide to Programs and Admissions (2026)

Govt postgraduate college is a name shared by many public colleges, not a single institution. This guide covers the nine you searched for (Samanabad Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Jhelum, Samanabad Lahore, Wahdat Colony Lahore, Jahanzeb Swat, Haripur, 6th Road Rawalpindi and Kasur) plus fifteen more across Punjab, KP and Sindh. Punjab colleges use the OCAS portal (ocas.punjab.gov.pk) and KP colleges use admission.hed.gkp.pk. Most offer intermediate and 4-year BS programs. Check each college's current notice for dates and seats.

What "Govt Postgraduate College" Means

A government postgraduate college is a public-sector college that teaches beyond intermediate level. Older ones began with MA and MSc programs. Many have since moved to the 4-year BS system, and several still run intermediate classes under the local board.

Names also change. Sahiwal's college was renamed Government Postgraduate College for Boys in 2009, then Government Graduate College for Boys in 2022. If a notice uses a different name from the one you searched, check the city and campus before assuming it is a different college.

When to Apply

Intermediate notices in Punjab clustered in August in the notices we reviewed, and BS notices appeared from September onward. KP's 2026 intermediate window was announced on 17 August. Check that the deadline year matches the current session, because several listings we found carry old dates under new titles.

Choosing Between Colleges

Start with commute and hostel access, then check that your subject combination is offered. Older, well-known colleges are often oversubscribed, so apply to more than one. Girls should note that some colleges, such as Wahdat Colony, are women-only, so confirm eligibility first.
