Postgraduate Admission 2026-27 in Pakistan: NUST, UAF, UVAS, FC College and More

Postgraduate admissions in Pakistan run in two cycles. Fall applications mostly fall between April and July, and Spring notices usually appear from November. For MS, MPhil or PhD you need 16 years of education, a qualifying test score (GAT, HAT, GRE or a university test) and an online application. In 2026, NUST accepted Master's applications from April 19 to May 22, UAF ran entry tests on July 19 and August 16, and UVAS closed applications on August 6. Those Fall 2026 windows have now passed. What Postgraduate Admission Means in Pakistan

Postgraduate admission is entry into a degree above the 16-year bachelor's level: MS, MPhil, MSc (Hons), MBA or PhD. In Pakistan, the MPhil is one of the most advanced master's degrees offered by public and private universities, and a PhD needs an MS or MPhil first. When Do Postgraduate Admissions Open in Pakistan?

Most universities run the same two cycles each year. The dates below come from 2026 notices.

Fall Cycle (April to September)

The Fall cycle starts early at NUST and spreads across the summer. NUST opened Master's applications on April 19. UAF's first registration window ran from June 4 to June 18. Punjab University's online applications opened on June 23. Karachi University released its prospectus between June 29 and July 8. Spring Cycle (November to February)

Spring admissions are smaller but real. UET Lahore took Spring 2026 applications from November 10 to December 22, 2025, held entry tests between December 29 and January 1, and started classes on February 2. NDU published its Spring 2026 advertisement in mid-January. We found no published Spring 2027 dates for NUST, UAF, UVAS or FC College at the time of writing, so watch each university's portal from November.

Eligibility and Entry Tests for MS, MPhil and PhD

Rules differ between universities, but the pattern is consistent enough to plan around.

MS and MPhil Requirements

You need sixteen years of schooling, or a four-year degree after HSSC. UVAS adds a minimum 50% in the annual system or 2.50/4.00 CGPA in the semester system. On tests, some universities accept GAT from NTS, HAT from HEC-ETC, or their own departmental test. Pass marks are set per university: UVAS asks for 50% in the GRE/HAT General test for MPhil.

PhD Requirements

A PhD applicant needs an MS/MPhil with at least 3.0/4.0 CGPA or 60% in the annual system. The test route has tightened too. CUVAS states that from Fall 2026, PhD admission rests on the GRE/HAT General test plus the relevant subject test through HEC-ETC, with a Statement of Purpose. UVAS asks for a 60% score in the GRE/HAT General entry test for PhD. Always confirm the exact test with the department you are applying to.

NUST Postgraduate Admissions

NUST is the earliest mover in the Fall cycle, and its test-score validity window catches people out. For Fall 2026, applications ran from April 19 to May 22 at pgadmission.nust.edu.pk. Applicants could use a valid NTS GAT (General) score or a NUST GNET score of at least 50%, with scores dated between June 1, 2024 and June 30, 2026. A GAT sat outside that window would not have counted.

Fall 2026 Timeline

GNET registration ran from April 26 to June 8. PhD applications covered 50+ programmes and closed on May 19. The NUST Graduate Open House on May 11 showcased 136 MS and PhD programmes. UAF Postgraduate Admission

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad offers MS, MPhil, MSc (Hons), MBA and PhD programs, and it runs two entry-test rounds each year, so a missed first attempt is not the end.

UAF Entry Test Schedule for 2026-27

The first round had registration from June 4 to June 18 and a test on July 19. The second had registration from July 21 to August 10 and a test on August 16. The first round's registration was extended to July 1, and around 3,000 applicants sat that test. PhD applicants take a GAT/GRE Subject-type test. All Pakistani citizens can apply on open merit. Beyond the main campus, UAF's sub-campuses such as Depalpur advertise their own MS and MSc (Hons) programmes. Apply through postgraduate.uaf.edu.pk. UVAS Postgraduate Admissions

The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, admits to MPhil and PhD through a GRE/HAT General entry test, followed by interviews and a series of merit lists.

UVAS Schedule for 2026-27

Online applications closed on August 6, 2026, and the original schedule placed merit lists between August 26 and September 14. Dates then shifted. A later UVAS notice set PhD GRE/HAT General testing and interviews for August 20 at the City Campus on Outfall Road, and MPhil General tests for August 27 and 28. Treat UVAS dates as fluid and check uvas.edu.pk before you plan travel.

Eligibility and Campuses

MPhil needs 16 years of education with a minimum 50% or 2.50/4.00 CGPA, and a master's degree is required for PhD. The campuses include Ravi Campus Pattoki, which hosts animal nutrition, dairy technology and fisheries programmes. See the UVAS postgraduate admissions notice.

UVAS and CUVAS Are Different Universities

Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CUVAS) is in Bahawalpur and runs its own process. For Fall 2026, its MPhil and PhD subject test was held on July 30. CUVAS accepts GAT (NTS) or its own test for MPhil, and GRE/HAT through HEC-ETC for PhD. Apply to the right one.

FC College Postgraduate Admissions

Forman Christian College (a Chartered University) offers MS, MBA/Executive, MPhil and PhD programs, alongside intermediate and bachelor's degrees, so check you are on the graduate page when you search.

Programmes listed on our FC College postgraduate admissions page include MPhil Food Safety & Quality Management, MPhil Public Policy, MPhil Education, MS Data Sciences, MPhil Sociology and MS Software Engineering. FCCU offers financial aid and merit scholarships, and on-campus hostels are available. Postgraduate Admission Dates at Other Universities

How to Apply for Postgraduate Admission Step by Step

1. Read the programme's eligibility notice and note which test it accepts.
2. Register for and pass that test (GAT, HAT, GRE or the university's own). Check how long the score stays valid.
3. Create an account on the university's admission portal and upload your documents.
4. Pay the fee voucher and keep the paid slip, which you will need on test day.
5. Sit the entry test and attend the interview if one is scheduled.
6. Track the merit lists. Universities such as CUVAS publish merit and waiting lists after each test. cuvas

Documents You Should Keep Ready

For UAF, applicants need their BS/BSc (Hons) degree and transcripts, MS/MPhil documents for PhD, and a character certificate from the last institution attended. Bring your original CNIC on test day, since CUVAS, for example, requires it along with the paid fee voucher.
