MA past papers are the annual or semester question papers that universities have already held for MA/MSc programmes. To find yours, pick your university first (Punjab, Sargodha, Karachi, Sindh or AIOU), then your subject, part and year. The tables below link to each university's papers. ilmkidunya hosts papers for PU, Sargodha, Karachi and AIOU, so those links come first. For anything newer, use the university's official site.
Start with the paper, not the notes. Most MA candidates lose marks on structure, not knowledge. They write four pages where the question wanted one, or skip a compulsory question. Previous papers show you how the examiner asks, which is half of the preparation.

Each university sets its own papers, so a Sargodha paper is a poor guide for a Karachi exam. Use the university that matches your roll number slip.
PU papers are listed by subject under Part I and Part II. The collection above runs up to 2022, and the latest sets are on the PU official site. For English, PU's Part II has eight separate papers, from Poetry-II to Essay, so check each paper's year before you start.
"UoS" in most student searches means the University of Sargodha. Its MA papers usually come in objective and subjective versions of the same paper, so download both. The listings above mostly run through 2018 and 2019, so treat them as pattern guides and check your department or the official site for newer ones.
KU papers cover subjects such as English, Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Islamic Studies and Urdu, with sets from 2015 to 2019. Some papers are issued in both English and Urdu medium (Economics, for example). Confirm your own medium before practising, since the question wording differs.
Sindh University (Jamshoro) papers differ by department. For MA English and other subjects, ask your department office or the examination section for the latest sets, and check the Sindh University website for any posted archive. Match the year and part on the paper to your own scheme of studies.
AIOU works by course code, not by annual papers. MA Urdu, for instance, uses codes in the 56xx series, such as 5601 for History of Urdu Adab-I and 5607 for Urdu Poetry-I. Always check the code printed on your own book or slip, then look up the papers for that code and semester (Spring or Autumn).
MA English: English has the heaviest paper load. PU's Part II alone has eight papers, covering poetry, drama, novel, criticism, short stories, linguistics, world literature and an essay paper. Practise one paper per sitting, under timed conditions.
MA Economics: Economics papers lean on theory plus short numerical or diagrammatic answers. At Karachi, expect separate papers per part with subjective sections. Solve the numerical questions by hand first, then compare with your class notes.
MA Urdu: Urdu papers split between literary history, criticism, poetry and prose style. For AIOU, work paper by paper using the course code. The two-year programme runs four semesters, so papers from each semester help most when you match code and semester exactly.
MA Arabic: PU's collection includes MA Arabic Part-I and Part-II papers. For Arabic, translation and grammar questions repeat in pattern more than in content, so study the question format, not just the text.
Work backwards. Take the latest paper you can find and attempt it cold, with a timer. Mark yourself honestly. Then compare it with the two papers before it, and note which topics keep returning.
Do not memorise a past paper's answers. Universities rotate questions, and examiners notice recycled phrasing. Use papers to learn question style, mark weight and how many questions you must attempt.
One more habit helps. Write the paper's header on a sheet: time, total marks, number of compulsory questions. On exam day, that sheet is the only thing you need to check.
A typical university paper shows the exam name and year, the subject, the paper title, time (often three hours) and total marks (often 100). Instructions such as "Attempt any four" follow. Questions fall under headings: context passages, short explanations, long essays or analytical answers. Read the instruction line twice before you start writing. That line decides your time per question.
Start with your own university's archive. Punjab University publishes MA/MSc papers by year and subject on its official site. For other universities, use department pages and the ilmkidunya past paper listings.
No. Each university sets and schedules its own papers, so papers from Punjab, Sargodha, Karachi, Sindh and AIOU follow different patterns and subject structures.
It usually means the University of Sargodha. Check the university name and your part (I or II) before downloading.
Find your course code first, such as 5601 for History of Urdu Adab-I. Then search that code on the AIOU site or a reliable archive. Avoid listings that still use the old 1500-series codes.
Yes. English has several papers per part, so past papers show the question style, marking weight and which questions are compulsory, which helps you plan time per paper.
Aim for the last three to five years per paper, solved under timed conditions. Quality matters more than quantity, so review each attempt against your notes.
