GIS ANALYST (02 POSITIONS)

Enacted under the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) Act 2023, the organization envisions comprehensive organizational reforms and aims to transform its culture towards full corporatization and a performance-based work environment.

Role Summary

KW&SC is seeking qualified GIS Analysts to support the modernization of water supply and sewerage services through:

  • Advanced geospatial systems

  • Asset mapping

  • Data-driven decision-making

The selected candidates will manage GIS databases, perform spatial analysis, and develop mapping solutions to improve planning, operations, and infrastructure management.

Key Responsibilities

 
# Responsibility
1 Maintain and update GIS databases for water and sewerage assets, including:
• Pipelines
• Valves
• Filter Plants
• Manholes
• Pumping Stations
• Treatment Plants
• Land Assets
2 Prepare maps, drawings, dashboards, and spatial reports for planning, maintenance, and emergency response.
3 Conduct network and spatial analysis to identify:
• Leaks
• Failures
• Capacity issues
• Service gaps
4 Support engineering teams in the design and planning of water and sewerage systems.
5 Develop web GIS platforms and dashboards using:
• ArcGIS
• QGIS
• AutoCAD
• ERDAS Imagine
6 Coordinate field surveys using:
• GPS
• Drones
• Mobile GIS applications
7 Ensure data quality, standards compliance, and proper documentation.
8 Train internal staff in GIS tools and workflows.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

 
Criteria Details
Educational Qualification M.Sc. Geography OR MS Remote Sensing & GIS
Experience Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in GIS, preferably in the utilities, water, wastewater, or infrastructure sectors
Asset Mapping Experience in asset mapping, spatial database management, and enterprise GIS systems is required
Preferred Experience • Exposure to donor-funded and public-sector projects will be an added advantage
• Candidates having experience in government projects will also be given preference
Technical Proficiency • ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD Map, or equivalent
• PostGIS, SQL Server, Oracle Spatial, or similar databases
• Dashboards, web maps, and mobile GIS tools
Age Limit Maximum 45 years on the date of publication of this advertisement

i The appointment shall be on a contract basis for a period of 3 years, extendable upon satisfactory performance.
ii The appointment will be subject to fulfillment of codal formalities, verifications, and administrative formalities.
iii The position is based in Karachi.

v No TA/DA will be admissible for the interview.
vi Government/Departmental candidates will have to obtain an NOC (No Objection Certificate) for applying to the position.
