The Excise and Taxation Department of Government of Punjab has function to introduce methods and policies to increase revenue through taxes in the province. The department encourages the taxpayers to pay tax by providing them easy payment policies. The excise and tax department responsibilities also include such as: Collection of Provincial Taxes/Fees, Collection of Federal Taxes, Motor Vehicle Registration, Dealer Vehicle Registration System for Dealers, and Dealer Vehicle Registration System for Customer and Auctions of Attractive Registration Marks. It has financial duties of making Budgets, Collections of taxes, Details of Contracts and keeping the records of Tenders. The department has future plans of Diversification of platform for value added services like branchless banking services to tax payers, Virtual availability of various services to tax payers 24/ 7, Online availability of property related data with tax mapping and associated services, Tax collection through branchless banking, Compulsory registration mechanism of vehicles before delivery, Centralization of Data Bases pertaining to motor vehicles, computerization of property tax for remaining districts, Establishment of kiosks for property tax bills, Establishment of 9 facilitation centers , Issuance of personalized number plates , Issuance of universal number, Issuance of owner based license plates , Issuance automated registration card, Integration of database with traffic police for collection of fines , Integration of database with safe city authority for traffic violation ticketing system and E- Auction of Motor Vehicles Registration mark of choice.
